Turn signal flasher buzzing Empty Turn signal flasher buzzing

Post by 39coupe Mon Mar 15, 2010 1:21 pm

The '73 is on the road but I have a weird problem with the turn signal flasher. If I turn the ignition to the on position but do not start the car the flasher buzzes. Once I start the car the buzzing stops and everything seems to work as it should. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Eric

Grounds, grounds, grounds. That is weird but check everything including the grounds. When things are weird that is usually what causes them, an open ground.

thats what my 72 is doing sort of. with me, it seems that after the car warms up, the turn signals blink really fast. i'm guessing that my problem is also the grounds. grounds are always the problem, lol.

bad ground would be more likely, but don't forget that all relays need the correct voltage to even trip the coil in it. A corroded/oxidized terminal on the fuse block or connector could give the same results of a relay fluttering by reducing the voltage applied. Best way to tell where any voltage drop are, or where the open/bad ground is, is with a digital multimeter to verify.

Just curious as to why/how you are rolling around the streets and making turns without the motor running? Very Happy just kidding.

Not sure if the bugs had them but could it be the key in ignition or seat belts not fastened buzzer?

A few mods to a squirrel and you can double the output.... "Rat" well might have a tech article on that one.... Rolling Eyes

My '72 does the exact same thing only backwards.
I know it is a ground problem, but after the engine starts the blinkers act normal.

Just put the "euro" type lights on the '72, I like them, but it reminds me of an elephant's foot set up.
But it is different than stock...
