Overheating light comes on when I start the car. Empty Overheating light comes on when I start the car.

I washed my 1987 cabby and took it for a drive after the wash. After 5 minutes of the drive the light would come on for a couple seconds and go off. It kept coming on and stayed on longer. Now when I start it it stays on as soon I crank it. Any ideas what is wrong???

Might be a short. Or sensor went out.
