Is anyone going this year or is everybody headed to the Newman benefit? The benefit is an amazing thing especially for a guy that hauls his 3 young children with him everywhere he goes. Kinda hits home to me. Just can't decide if I want to roll solo that far.

At least 4 or 5 of us from the Aircooled Addicts are going to Newnan. The Sugar Hill show is good but I personally felt the Newnan show would benefit more from the support.

I'll be vending parts at the Newnan fundraiser show. Hopefully we as a community can alleviate some of this family's pain.

Hopefully Darrell does not mind me posting our emails but I wanted to share. This is NOT self promotion. We feel honored to play a small part in the VW community

Hi Darrell, we would love to donate some of the proceeds from our car show to the family. What are their names? No Worries about 2 car shows at once, hopefully there are plenty of VW folks to go around. Our group would feel honored to be a part of this. How would you like us to make the check out? We will give us much as we can. Good luck on your show and pray for good weather!
Thanks!

Subject: Newnan Show for Bugs4Christ

Steve,
I'm Darrell Land with Bugs4Christ. We set up the Cruise-In in Newnan for the family on the 19th. First I want to apologize, I really didn't realize there was another show that weekend, I looked through the events on GeorgiaDubs and didn't see anything, but now I see that's because the last post on it was back in April and I didn't go back that far. We set this up to be a good time for the family, because we hoped all three kids would be healing at home by the 19th, and they are. We are doing it as an all makes/models cruise in and show.
I feel bad about splitting up some of the VW's that may have come your way or our way, but the cool part about it to me is no matter where they are at, VW's getting out and supporting anything in a community is a good thing. The best part of owning a VW to me is the stories people have...I love sitting at an event like yours and just listening to all the visitors tell me about their VW memory. I hope you know we weren't trying to steal your thunder in any way. I am sure your show profits go to a really good cause already, and I don't want to interfere with that in anyway. I told Mary Davenport the same thing, she wanted us to come to her show last weekend and try to get donations that day too and I told her that I knew hers went to the American
Cancer Society so I'd rather all of the money that people brought to donate make it to her.
If you really feel like you want to donate some of the proceeds we would gladly accept it, but I don't want to pressure you in any way. We set this up knowing it was more about an outpouring of care for the family, and showing them, because they were in a VW that we wanted to replace their bad memory of VW's with a much better one.
Feel free to call me and we can talk about the proceeds if you're really interested in doing it. We'd be humbled and honored if you did.

Steve, again, we feel honored and blessed. A little background info, the parents are Matt and Stacey Alvarado, the kids 12,13,15 are Taylor, Matthew, and Brooke. All three kids were going for a ride in their Cousin Ferdinand's 66 VW Beetle he had purchased 3 hours earlier. They were stopped waiting to make a left turn back into their neighborhood when they were rear ended by a large SUV. Brooke and Matthew both had concussions, broken/bruised rib, facial lacerations, etc...Taylor, the youngest took the brunt of the impact, major head injury, broken leg, ribs, etc. He spent almost a month in a coma with part of his skull detached for swelling of the brain. He started breathing on his own about 2 1/2 weeks in, then the healing started. He's had many surgeries since then, is out of the hospital right now and going to rehab daily at Scottish Rite. He is doing better with speech and cognitive functions, learning to walk again, etc, but he is completely blind in one eye, only minor vision in the other.

We, as a Youth Ministry have just tried to setup something to show the family we care. They lived at the hospital for months, and are still there every day. Any and all support they get will mean the world to them. We also took on the project of rebuilding the 66 VW Beetle as something separate from this benefit show. He owned the car for 3 hours, it ended in tragedy, and we have volunteered to rebuild it for him, regardless of what it takes.

All of the money you guys give will go straight to the kids and their parents. If you want to share it, here's the facebook page for the Ministry that shows the rebuild project and info on the family: https://www.facebook.com/Bugs4Christ or you can go to our website: http://www.bugs4christ.com

Thanks again man, I can't explain how exciting this is. The VW Community is a big one, an awesome one, and a caring one, and we're just glad to be a small part of it.
