ANOTHER GREAT FIND...VW JUNK YARD
This lot is located in Statesboro Georgia. It is about 40 miles from my house. The shop was closed but I stopped at the shop next door and the guy says that he sells parts, but he is kind of strange and he doesn't like to get rid of his "complete" VW's. He recently purchased a '62 from him but it took some time to convice the guy to get rid of it. I am going next weekend to ask about the black bus and about a mid 60's beetle in primer towards the end of the lot. If anyone is interested in any parts, let me know and I'll ask next weekend.
There are a bunch of 70's but you guys can guess the years better than me. I think the nicest one is the light blue next to the Ghia.
THIS ONE HAS ALL THE CAMPING INTERIOR, INCLUDING SINK AND WHAT LOOKED LIKE A REFRIGERATOR
MY FAVORITE, I AM GOING BACK TO ASK ABOUT THIS BUS, THE INTERIOR WAS COMPLETE
THIS GHIA WAS REAL NICE AND THE BEETLE WAS FLAWLESS.

Re: ANOTHER GREAT FIND...VW JUNK YARD
What is the name of the place or the address? It might be worth a trip down there.
Re: ANOTHER GREAT FIND...VW JUNK YARD
The shop has some type of Import Mechanic Shop sign. I was driving down 301 thru Statesboro and once inside town I turned right going 301 north. Statesboro is of I-16 and the shop is about 15 miles from the I-16 exit. I did not get the exact address but it is easy to find. Like I said, I am going there in a couple of days and I'll post the complete address for your mapquest, or navigation system.

I think you might be correct, but I was like a kid on a toy store and I did not look at the sign for more than 2 seconds.

I'm very interested in the tan bus if the guy wants to sell and that is not one you are wanting.
Re: ANOTHER GREAT FIND...VW JUNK YARD
I will ask him. The tan bus has all the camping interior, although it doesn't have the camper top??? Anyway, I like just the deluxe model. Like I said, the neighbor told me he is "stingy" about selling complete vehicles, but around here no one is looking for VW's. There is no way someone would have so many vehicles and not sell them...

Sorry to say that I have seen this scenario all too often. I think that it goes well with the "Goldmine" thread. My guess is that since that is a repair shop that 25-50% of the cars belong to customers. The rest are the shop owner's personal parts cars/projects/investments.
But I would be glad to be wrong.

well, I have a friend that has a 73 super and he bought some parts recently, the neighbor bouth a 62 some months ago. It is possible, but I bet it takes some good negotiating skills.

Re: ANOTHER GREAT FIND...VW JUNK YARD
Billy's Auto Imports. I have his phone number. I went and talked to the owner of the place. Real nice guy and he told me..."I used to not want to sell parts, but the vehicles are getting rusty and I might as well sell some"... HE DID SAY SOME!!! Don't think that you are going to take the whole lot. I asked about a couple of Beetles for parts, and the 1972 Brown/tan Camper bus with the COMPLETE Interior and he told me $500.00 for the bus. The only rust I could find was in the left rear window around the weather stripping. It has small pellet size holes. But everything else looks nice and solid. The engine is there but he said that the condition of the engine is unknown. The 1970 Black bus is going for $300.00, it has no engine but I think it is a good project. Some little pellet size holes on the front window frame and the drivers floor board but the door channels are solid.
Keep in mind that I called "DIBS" on the black bus first. I was talking to the guy for about 30 minutes and I gave him a sad father and son project story, so I don't know if the prices are for everyone. But he has some wrecked 1962-1966 Beetles for parts and bunch of 70's super beetles.
