LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
Driving along with my wife about 40 miles from my house. I happened to look at a field and there it was the two tone paint thru the pine trees. I think it is too far gone to restore, but if someone wants it let me know and I'll go by next weekend. It is a shame, they even used it for target practice. Some parts may be salvaged for your project!

Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
Cool find. I guess 65 or 66. There is some parts left there to salvage. I would like to have that radio delete and the deluxe trim is worth a few dollars, especially the trim on the bumper.
Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
The bus is on the side of the hwy and there are a bunch of metal scraps, trash and abandoned vehicles in the area. It looks like no mans land. The land has no signs and no land marks. I say it is up for grabs...
I am going to ask, if I had $10K laying around and a body shop in my back yard I would pick it up. Oh!!!! and no wife. LoL
I figured that you were going to be the first one to answer the thread. Take a battery hacksaw and get some of the panel off and other misc parts.

Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
I am going this friday/saturday. I do not know the address to the place, I have some sources trying to find out if the land belongs to someone or to the state. I was doing an afternoon drive by statesboro and I saw it, on hwy 301 near the University. Honestly I was scared of getting shot by someone out there, but another vehicle that caught my eye on my way out of the woods was a mid 40's Willy's pick up body (I think). There is more junk back there. I do have a trailer with a winch ready to do the retrival of the bus this weekend during the afternoon hours, so I will be parting the bus out to the guys that ask me for some parts.

Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
cool, i don't have a bus so it would be pretty useless too me. just curious if there were any other cars i might have (chevy trucks, anything GM actually, ford trucks, random metal to practice welding onm or for other projects, etc.)

Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
There is a lot of scrap out there, I have to go by there tomorrow, I will take more pictures and post them, but I won't be able to pick up the bus or any parts until saturday. If for some reason I can't get the complete bus, I WILL GET the parts people ask me for.

Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
Went back for the bus, but the floors are too far gone and in my opinion the bus will fall apart if moved. I found the trans case about 50 feet from it and inside there is an engine case, it might be the original.
I tried to take parts of it, but the screws are all rusty and I didn't have the time or tools to do it. The field has 4-5 1940's pick ups burried in the dirt, a bunch of scrap metal and what looks like 2 beetle pans but they are almost completely covered with dirt. I did take a BJ beam with me for some brackets. There is some cool stuff, like the headlights of the pick ups and some chrome. If you like rat rods, you might be able to take some parts and make one. BUT remember everything has rust one way or another.
The bus side trim is in real good shape and the jail bars but I could not take them off. The speedo could be taken off and some body panels can be saved. The field is in hwy 301 going towards statesboro, behind Georgia Electric Motor Company, their is also a small cement plant before the electric motor company. The place looks like a rest stop from back in the 70's. I was there for a while and if you park back there no one can see you. I could not find out if the land belongs to the city or private owner.
Come on a take some parts off , if you are parts of the Pick, Pull and Run Club!!!

Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
damn, i didn't realize how far you are from me . im in ellenwood, which is like 5 mins south east from atlanta. and of course i am building a rat rod from my 74 super, meaning i am in need of a linkpin frame head, and random metal do-dads to make it look more "vintage". just my luck, that there is somewhere to get all that stuff free, but no way of getting all the way down there (job)

Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
Looks to be a late '64 or '65 . Push button door handle and slash front bumper.
Re: LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!
Went today with all the tools needed to completely strip the bus. 30 minutes into the operation the owner of the land came from behind the woods. He was mad as hell!. He was understanding and I said I was sorry. I already had the JAIL BARS, AND THE LINK PIN BEAM HALF WAY OUT. Sorry guys, I was trying to get as much as possible.
BUT HE DID NOT SEE THIS IN THE BACK OF MY TRUCK. I GOT ALL OF THEM. Bryce ask me for them some months ago.
