Bay Holes o______o
I have seen them on early/mid to mid bays but don't know what they are for, so..................what are the holes for seen below?

for the factory to apply some wax sealant rust protective stuff to the frame

They are process drain holes to allow excess primer/paint to drain out after the complete vehicle body had been dipped at the VW factory. The holes are normally sealed afterwards with a translucent colourless plastic plug which should be replaced if missing to prevent ingress of dirt and moisture. You should also find some on the inside of the rear-wheel outboard arches (i.e. wings or fenders).
The best way I could find a use for them was to use them when I undercoated the beast. They are perfect for accessing the frame rails to get undercoat in them. Another use I found was for the wiring I ran for reverse backup lights. (use hard plastic wire cover & rubber grommet). Either way they should be plugged to prevent the forementioned above.
