been fighting the slow turning starter issue for a while now both before the swap to 12v flywheel and now again with brand new 12v starter.
starter just turns like its in syrup a few times and then doesn't turn at all. haven't put a meter on the battery or anything but lights are bright and stereo plays all day. cleaned tranny ground strap and battery ground. all connections on starter and switch are good
problem in ignition switch? push start button?
hot wired the ingition switch and starter does same thing
was going to take out the push button and see if that does it but the way its wired in is strange and idk how to wire up the ign switch without the push button

thoughts?
detailed ignition switch diagram would help

Do you still have the stock ignition switch? If so, it's just three connections.

Terminal 30 is the power IN to the switch - should be fed from the hot side of the end fuse (passenger side of the fuse box)

Terminal 50 is the output to the starter solenoid.

Terminal 15/54 is for the coil. Should go to the hot side of the other end fuse (drivers side of fuse box), where it then runs to the coil.

the switch is item D on this diagram.

thanks eric thats what i need but i just pulled the starter and found the bushing all smashed up
it was the bushing that came with the starter
is 12v bushing's outer diameter smaller than the 6v one?
idk why the new bushing would be broken like it is unless it was flopping around or something
and would that cause the starter to bind up?
cause the starter spins fine just hanging there

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the 6v bushing does have a larger diameter. Without the bushing keeping everything perfectly aligned, it probably could be the cause of the binding.

You probably need one of these

Or an autostick starter

cause i needed a starter and this one was in stock but i got another 12 volt bushing today and put about 5 layers of tape around it so it would stay in the hole and its working for now until the converter bushing gets here
