'74 Super Bee
Well hell hath no boundaries! I'm now an owner of a "Fat Chic". I have fought this for some time but I've went and done it. My Brother-in-Law bought this '74 new and it has served him well and he doesn't want to see it go to waste. It was kind of cheap price wise so I now own it. As I recall it's the only VW I've bought that I can drive home, well almost. This thing is huge on the inside compared to my '64.
It seems that the brakes are sticking, I think its a collapsed rubber hose but not sure yet. Went to drive it home tonight but when I got ready to leave it wouldn't budge. My B-i-L(PO) seems to think it's the left front but it feels like the rear to me. I'm going to rep[lace all four rubber lines to make sure.
Well it's a Super and it's red my most unfav color of all so at some point it will be Ruby Red. Pics to come later.

Re: '74 Super Bee
Few pics.....
Nice clean up and some buffing should have a nice old look to it. Still got to get it home.
He bought the car new from Mitchell in East Point, hate that this frame is broken.

Re: '74 Super Bee
Looks like a really nice car! Just needs some buffing, 17s and a little height adjustment and it would be a killer german look!
Re: '74 Super Bee
Yeah German Look for sure. I hate Red but Ruby red will work for me. I don't want to add those hideous wide fenders, would like to stuff some beef under them. Something different as far as wheels. 17" Fuchs might work hummm....
Re: '74 Super Bee
Browse craigslist for 4x100 wheels.....you can find 17s on there for cheap and all you would have to do is drill the drums or install some disc....

I don't like red either! But, it kinda grows on ya! Can't wait to see her all done up! Maybe you could clamp that tag good and fill it on the back side with some JB Weld. Have seen it work pretty good before.

Re: '74 Super Bee
I got the Super home today. Well turns out that the left front wheel cylinder was stuck. I took the drum off and cleaned it got it loosened up and then half way bleed the brakes for the ride home. Got it home with no issues and adjusted all the brakes and re-bleed the fronts and now I have less pedal. I took the left rear drum off needed to clean and lube one of the the adjusters it was stuck. Still need to adjust all the wheels out all the way and bleed the entire system tomorrow. Also degreased the engine some looks 50% better. The car runs good and drives great just doesn't stop to well.
Re: '74 Super Bee
Well fixed the brakes today, adjusted clutch, adjusted suspension and added a few extras.
Few beers later....

Re: '74 Super Bee
This car gave up it's power plant for my Bus. Well the plan was just for BAP14 but it(Bus) is so much fun to drive the engine is still in it. So when I took Geek off the road to do a rebuild I knew I needed another ACVW running so I threw Geek's power plant in this car. Can you say musical engines? Well I got it all finished up, a generator engine in an alternator car takes some rewiring to make it work. It needed a good cleaning after sitting under a tree in my backyard for the past 7 months, so did a nice cleaning on it. I had bought some trim clips so I decides it was time to replace a few of those. The car drives like a dream and I do have a wheel cylinder that is sticking again so I'll have to address that problem before it's officially on the road. It will be out and about to some local meets.
