Building the White Knight
(ctrl+p)
I'm trying to collect an album for the White Knights story and build. If you happen to have photos from the build, or from the show saturday- could you post them here, or link or even send to me. If none of that works- discs can be accepted too- just contact me for info. My new phone # is 404- 216- 3972 if you need it. I also am trying to submit a magazine write up, so good quality pictures and background info is needed too (since you all kept me in the dark so well)
Thanks....for everything you all have done! I am so happy with the new ride, and am excited to bring her to AMS in a few weeks! I'll have plenty of Sharpies if you still need to sign her hood too!
Here is a link to what I've collected so far-
The White Knight Gallery
Thanks!

I couldn't help it man, I tightened that axle nut down so tight with all my manly brute force, that it was hard to later pull the dang wheel back off the axle.

Re: Building the White Knight
If anyone still wants to lend a hand- there is still a little work to be done!
I know I can be over there Sat evening and by late morning on Sunday.

Re: Building the White Knight
If you, your business and any clubs joined in the efforts to build The Knight, I would like to not only get everyone to sign her hood, but I am also collecting small size stickers to put on a tribute window, to let everyone know what a great bunch of people we have in the 'Dub community.
Re: Building the White Knight
Want me to send ya some in n out stickers? They have palm trees on them, lol.
So awesome! I wish I coulda come out to help! I love this VW community!

Re: Building the White Knight
In n Out would be cool- it will probably end up on my tool cart though- saving the the carspace for the sponsers/doners/builders!
Re: Building the White Knight
Think I've got an In-N-Out sticker somewhere. I'll dig it out and get it to ya this weekend if ya like Don.

I wish Callahan and I got a picture of it in the hail storm. . .
They left us all alone to clean up the mess when a storm rolled in.

Wow.. I am appalled that they would do such a thing, especially when I know Tim won't melt!

It wasn't intentional. The weather was fine when they went to town to pick up Tim's check. Then the bottom just kinda fell out.

Re: Building the White Knight
Just thought an update was a little overdue.
I spent another weekend working on that tangled mess (wiring) and am glad to report....I got a good deal of seat time in over the weekend. Earlier today went to Roswell and back too. Had wanted to drive the Knight into work tonight, but the thunderstorms were rolling in, and I still have to replace the wiper motor (when I get home later)
Lights!

Re: Building the White Knight
Just a little update on "The Knight"
Haven't been out like I usually am- but I've had a few projects keeping me busy. One of which is some new motivation for the Knight. The original motor took a dump on me a few months back- it turned out a wrist pin came loose and the thrust bearing was working loose too. Fortunetly I parked her before anything really broke.
While she's been down I've been getting some guidance putting together a used longblock I picked up. Hopefully this will take care of things while I fill my pennyjar, and then build something fresh for her.
Here's a peek-

Re: Building the White Knight
Apparently, my engine building skills still are in need of refinement.....guess I should lock up the toolbox, and stick to the airbrush!
My temporary motor (above) lasted about 5 days. I took a chance on the internals in the case, and had the main bearings/oil pressure go. Luckly, damage was minimal.
But now, the Knight has a new powerplant! Just got her back Friday afternoon. Wished I could have gotten her down to AMS yesterday, but it wasn't in the cards (had to work). Lookin' forward to seeing eveyone out and about soon!
Here are some fresh pics-
I am so friggin' happy with the new look of the front end!
