Looking for help with my baja...

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here. I have recently acquired a 1970 baja bug with a 1600. I have built several circle track and road course racecars and many very capable off-road trucks, jeeps, and suvs. Now I want to make a desert racer. I am looking to turn my bug into a SCORE legal 5-1600 car. I realize that buying a used racecar would be much easier and cheaper, but I enjoy the build of a racecar almost as much as the racing.

Unfortunately, as you know, there are not many deserts around here. Subsequently, there are not many desert racers. I have a SCORE rulebook and have been scouring forums for months for pictures, builds and general advice. I've got a lot of good info and advice, but it always helps to talk to someone more local. I was hoping that some of you may have built one of these cars, raced in desert racing, or could point in the right direction to go for one of these builds.

I already have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing, just looking for advice and the tips and tricks you can't find in the rulebook. Look forward to documenting the build on this site.

Glad you found the site and I look forward to watching the build but I have no experience with any off road VWs. Hopefully there is someone on here can help you out though.
