Picked up a new project yesterday!

its a 1986 four door westmoreland golf.

8v carb'd, 5sp

it has the special euro bumpers and the westy grill (little squares)

the crappy aerosol 2 tone is coming off first, looks like there should be some decent paint underneath

im ready to get it cleaned up and see if i can get it to start, if this rain will hurry up and go away...

on to the pics

yea im scared of the PO's wiring myself affraid

the remaining wiper seems frozen or stripped out lol, but both the front and rear window washer nozzles work!!!

I put a battery in it today, just to see what im contending with. all the lights seem to work fine, with the exception of one blown running lamp.

i polished the front end (hood and fenders) along with the hood and have to say the paint is holding up well for 25yrs. I also tried to remove the black rattle can 2-tone. I tried the easy off method, even used the heavy duty kind to no avail. finally I resorted to acetone... it will take it off but it is slowwww!

I need to find a starter and a coolant flange and see if i can get this "family econo box" to start!

I couldnt take it anymore, this thing looked like a 4x4, so i cut the springs, now atleast i can stand to look at it! Cool

also picked up a used starter. I haven't put it in though, still waiting on a few other pieces so i can get this thing to start.

is that the blue one you'll be cruising soon? i'm a little scared seeing that oil pan that close even on flat tires... throw some coilovers on so at least it's adjustable and you don't knock the shit out of the pan every time you hit a dip.

yikes! would you be interested in parting it out? or just selling it outright? i've been looking for the pieces i need for a 5spd swap and all the major pieces seem to be taken.
