Re: muffler help
I have the ceramic coated version on my 71 and I think it sounds pretty good, not too loud but has a nice tone.

Re: muffler help
from what i've heard, if you have a stock, or stock-ish motor, it'll be fine, but for a bigger motor, it can cause too much backpressure, and cause the motor to overheat the heads badly. The empi gt 4 tip i had on mine overheated the heads bad on my 2074cc motor. it overheated after a 5 minute drive, lol. after installing my stinger, it runs a LOT cooler. I plan to buy a dual quietpack soon. We can actually order them from advance auto brand new. $200 for the header and dual quietpack, i believe. we can also order the 4 tip empi header at advance as well, i forgot how much tho. i wanna say anywhere from $75 to $100.

Is a 1776 too big for it?
Re: muffler help
naa. not till you start getting to the 1835/ 1914 area, and bigger. or if you have big valve heads. I have 042 heads (40 & 35.5 valves), centermount 44idf, 1.25 rockers, and its a 2074, and it took LITTERALLY 4-5 minutes to overheat to the point, the dipstick was BURNING hot, and it diesled for 20 seconds after shut down, lol. After swaping to the stinger, it ran a hell of a lot cooler. dipstick is a lot cooler, and it doesn't diesel as bad. the guys at the samba are the ones who told me to yank off that 4 tip, and one guy said that empi one above was just as bad. but for a stock-is motor, its fine.

Re: muffler help
1776 with 041's? not sure about that. are you already running it, or are thinking about getting one? If you already have it, and you're not overheating, you should be fine. if your thinking about it, i have no idea. I prolly wouldn't, but thats just a guess. I just know, that 4 tip overheated the crap out of my motor . I'd prolly run a stinger with baffle, Phat boy, single quietpack, or dual quietpack. Hideaway's are nice too.

Re: muffler help

Re: muffler help
I have a Cherry Bomb tip on my 4 int 1 headder and it is too loud.
I am planning on putting a tuck away muffler on this vert.
When I get the Cbomb off, I'll see if any one is interested in it, but on the vert, you cannot even hear yourself think with the top down.
