Bugs at the Branch Sept. 20th
On Sept. 20th we will be heading to the Bugs at the Branch show. This show should be a lot of fun, it will be a Hot Rod, VW show, and chili cook off. The town streets will be blocked off and the aircooled VW's will line one side of the street and the Hot Rods will line the other. We are actually sponsering this show this year and our club will be represented on the event t-shirts. We will meet in front of Bass Pro Shops as always between 8:30am and 9:15am. We will pull out at 9:15 and take the highway straight there. Again, this should be a lot of fun! I really hope everyone can make it. If you have a club shirt it would be great if you wore it and lets represent in style. See you then!!!!

Re: Bugs at the Branch Sept. 20th
It is almost time. I hope you all are looking forward to the show this Sat. For those of you that may not know about the show, it is going to be a VW, Hot Rod, and chili cookoff. They will be closing down the streets in downtown Flowery Branch for the show. The Hot Rods are going to line one side of the street and us VW guys will be across from them lining the other side. There will also be the chili cookoff going on and the chili will be free to try. We are sponsering this show and our club logo will be right in the middle of the event shirt on the back. I really hope most of you will be able to make this event and for those of you that have club shirts, it would be great if we had them on. I really want to roll in in style and represent our club well.Meeting time will be between 8:30 and 9:15 and we will be pulling out at 9:15. We will meet at Discover Mills Mall in front of Bass pro Shops as always. If you are running late please give me a call and I we will try and wait depending on how far behind you are.Again, I would really like to see a huge turnout because this should be a lot of fun. Hope everybody has a good week and I will see you Sat.God bless

Definitely a good show! I was in a flat black '71 Super w/a roll cage. I saw som pretty nice rides and it looked like the majority of them had Aircooled Addicts somewhere on them so I thought I'd come check it out. I spoke with Jason (? sorry, I'm terrible with names ) for a bit. Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say hello and I hope to learn more about these cars!

Re: Bugs at the Branch Sept. 20th
I saw a coupla of VW's I'd seen on this site. "Rusteze" "The Flower Van" I didn't get to say hello to anyone because no one was sitting in or around their cars.
I met the president of the Athens VW club, Clyde Maddox, he was pleasant and invited me to their "get together"
I met a new member of the Air-Cooled Addicts but I didn't catch his name.
I met a guy with an English accent. His name was Nigel. His VW was a bright yellow '74 standard. It had a 2270 cc Raby type IV motor and 4 wheel disc brakes it was a very nice ride. I lusted for his engine.
He and I walked over to see his buddy's '57 rag top (A work in progress) The '57 was outstanding. The guy said he grafted a '63 rag top roof onto the car. You could not tell from the outside. He showed me on the inside. (No headliner yet) The interior needed finishing up. The body work and paint was really outstanding straight and slick as I've ever seen. The owner was enthusiastic and really was proud to point out the details he had worked so hard on.
I stopped by "Online Air-Cooled Parts" booth and I bought a shift rod bushing and shift rod coupler that I intend to replace next week and two new tail light lenses for my '68. They seemed knowledgeable and good people.
I would have liked to have driven it there but I'm still missing the passenger front fender. Also a lot of cooling tin. The dual Kadrons are far from being adjusted correctly as well. It runs but like crap. I drove it in my neighborhood and I need a new steering damper. It started shaking and pulling side to side so hard around 45 that it nearly jerked my arms out of their sockets. I probably need new ball joints too. Tie rod ends an alignment, etc..., etc......
Maybe I'll meet some of you at another event.

Yeah that site is actually how I came about here. I was trying to find some type of forum setup to get in touch with everyone.
But yeah, I'm all for some cruisin' action (as long as the roads are good and no big bumps...I've picked up road reflectors with how low it is ). I've been fixing tune issues and putting on random parts I got at the show today. Runs pretty good now...Just gotta figure out why the oil cap keeps blowing off randomly and the blinker issue.

Yeah, I have a few pictures of it. Nothing really worthwhile, just some I snapped in the driveway.
I'm thinking of having a local guy do a custom header setup on it to some tail pipes that would have quite a bit more ground clearance. Getting in and out of the driveway is pretty comical to watch as of right now...
Thanks for the welcome! Looks to be a good bunch of people.

Re: Bugs at the Branch Sept. 20th
Yeah that is the car that I was thinking. I rememer seeing this car for sale in stockbridge, I think...? How is it lowered in the front?
Re: Bugs at the Branch Sept. 20th
Yeah the guy I bought it from is actually a guy from another car club I am a part of. Within a few minutes of him posting it up on our site, I bought it from him...Always loved the old Bugs. And it is lowered with springs. As far as if they are some springs you can buy, existing ones that were cut, or however else...I have no clue. My intentions with the car is to make it kind of a mountain cruiser, so the suspension may get all redone. Everything is really up in the air at this point. I just know that I want a little more power and keep everything reliable to the extreme. As far as what I should do to achieve this...Well I'm hoping to get some insight from the awesome people here and the shows like today!Attorney Isaiah Loophole wrote:Yeah that is the car that I was thinking.
