A Wife's Love
A very old man lay dying in his bed. In death's doorway, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookie wafting up the stairs.
He gathered his remaining strength and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort forced himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands.
With labored breath, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven. There, spread out on newspapers on the kitchen table, were literally hundreds of his favorite chocolate chip cookies.
Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted wife seeing to it that he left this world a happy man?
Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself toward the table. The aged and withered hand, shaking, made its way to a cookie at the edge of the table, when he was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife.
"Stay out of those," she said. "They're for the funeral."

Re: A Wife's Love
What a beautiful love story.
There was another very elderly man on his way out. He lay in his bed, unable to speak, feeding tube and on oxygen. The family knew it was time so they called for their family pastor. The pastor came over and stood near his bedside. The man, unable to speak, waved the pastor over and motioned for a piece of paper and pen. The man wrote a note and passed it to the pastor. The pastor thought that this should be a private event and slid the note in his pocket. The elderly man started to shake, thrash about and in just a minute or less, passed on. A few days later at the funeral during the eulogy the pastor was fumbling in his pocket and found the note that the old man wrote just before his death. He though that there was no better time to read it than here and share his last moment with the family. He opened the note and said "I have here, the last words of this great man", he opened the note and read aloud "You're standing on my air hose".

Re: A Wife's Love
A womans husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months.
One day he motioned for her to come nearer. As she sat by him,he whispered,
eyes full of tears,''You know what? You have been with me all through the bad times.
When I got fired, you was there with me.When my business failed, you was there.
When I got shot, you was by my side. When we lost the house, you stayed by me.
When my health started failing, you was still by my side.......You know what?''
''What dear?'' she asked gently.
''I think your bad luck.Get the hell away from me.''
