Dec. 5 Watkinsville Christmas parade

We will once again make our annual apperance in the Watkinsville Christmas parade. It is Dec. 5 and we line up at 10:00am, with the parade starting at 11:00. I'll post our line up location as soon as I know it.

After the parade Clyde is hosting an open house and making his store open to all. I'll let him post details.

Details: We are entry #37. Line up begins at 10:00am. We are on Depot St. When you turn off of Main St (downtown Watkinsville, also known as 441) onto Barnett Shoals Rd., Depot St will be on your right. If you cross the railroad tracks, you have gone too far. We will meet at our line up spot and decorate our cars while we wait for 11:00am. Decorations are your choice, but I think they are part of the reason we have won the 'Best Antique car' award the last two years.

We will have written directions to get you to Clyde's after the parade. Typically we stop after the end of the parade route and remove any decorations that might blow off at normal speeds. If there is room, we will pull into the resturant parking lot as in years past.

Jon, Are we going to meet up at the McDonalds for a biscuit and coffee refill and head in together? I think this is the best way to keep the pack together and prevent people from getting lost.

We can meet at the Watkinsville McDonalds at 9:00 as we have in the past. I always enjoy a morning biscuit. I didn't suggest it, as in the last couple years, people have been skipping McDonalds and meeting at the parade spot.

We'll meet at Mickey D's at 9:00. If you come later than 9:45, meet on Depot St.

If you are planning on attending, please reply to the post with your name and vehicle description. Jon needs them for the MC of the parade.

Thanks Gary...if you can get the year of the car, that would be helpful.

The parade is always a blast. It is best when it is warm enough to have the windows/top down and hear all the people's comments as we drive past.

I am sure Jack will have his top down no matter how cold it is

It will be cold tomorrow that is for sure. It may also be raining/misting, it depends on which forecast you look at. I've been watching www.accuweather.com. They are giving me the most hope for little to no rain during the parade.

Either way the parade goes on, rain or shine. Grab a blanket, turn up the heat and come on.

What is it? I have no heat in the Thing and plenty of outside air circulation in the car. In fact, if it is not raining, the top will be down.

After taking a closer look, plan A is out. A 1000 watt heater and a 300 watt power converter ain't gonna cut it! Oh, well on to plan B. ( a sh!t load of blankets and some thermal undies! )

Don't forget your candy to toss. It is not required, but you may have to take your chances with a mob of little kids. Don't under estimate the danger of kids in search of a sugar rush.

A big thank you to all who came out. Especially those of you who came from areas outside Athens/Oconee Co.

Once again we had a BLAST. I always love hearing all the comments from the crowd. The best one I heard was, "that's VW's Hummer" as I drove past. The other funny thing was that I sent in the list of drivers and their cars. I told them we would be it no particular order. As we went by, the girl on the PA said," This entry won 'best antique vehicle' last year and this year Rick Hester leads them in a 1963 Ragtop bug", ugh, no, it's a 73 Thing....

Jenn reminded me of our "best line of the day".
