Hello from the Mediterranean
Havent seen as many dubs as I thought I would. You probably wouldn't want anything other than a beater over in these cities. They drive crazy over here, especially in Rome. You'll have two cars and two mopeds all side by side in one single lane! It's really the craziest driving I have ever seen. Most of the bugs I've seen have all been 70s models.
But Athens Greece is the place to see some VWs. In about 6 hours I saw about 15 dubs. Lots of mid 60's, a split window bus, bay window single cab, squareback, and a handful of fatchick beetles. I usually spot these down side streets, so I don't have many pictures. Looking forward to getting back home to my car!

Re: Hello from the Mediterranean
Whoo, finally back home after an 11 hour flight. I'm sure there are many more VW's over there, but like I said, I was in the very crowded touristy places where a bug would probably get beat to death. Tim, we were over there for about 17 days with stops in Italy, Greece, and Turkey. When I get the cash and time for another project, I'll search for a good vw for a while, but if I don't find one, I may look into getting an old Fiat 500. They were all over the place in Rome. I must have seen at least 100 of them. They are very cool looking and have a ragtop. Although from looking them up online, it appears they are only around 500cc (23hp), so I'd have to see If I could cram a 1600 in one. I'll try and post a few of the vw pics I did get in a few days, though none of them turned out very well.
Here is what the fiat looks like.

Definitely! We had gone to alot of these places a few years ago, but did tours where you are on a bus with 100 other people and can't see or hear anything. This time Kelly planned for private tours where it was just 4 of us with a guide/driver in all the ports so we got to go alot of places and see things we couldn't see on the big ol buses. We flew into Rome and had 3 days before the cruise started so we got to do alot of exploring there. It was a cool place but just way to damn crowded. I definitely don't think I could ever drive around over there. I would have an accident within 5 minutes.
