Rebuilding
So I have taken the motor apart but iam not able to separate the heads or the jugs from the block or case any ideas on how to make this happen. Iam looking for someone interested in helping me rebuild the engine or at least to tell me what I need to get this project back on the road this summer. I don't know anything about these engines and there are soooooo many different versions.

Re: Rebuilding
If you have all 16 nuts (8 per side) that hold the heads on then you can use a rubber mallet hitting straight down on the fins to try and get things apart. If the engine is locked up and there is a lot of corrosion it may not be possible without cutting things.....and if it comes to that then the engine is probably junk.....
Re: Rebuilding
Pretty much what I was afraid of because I've already tried that that's why I was trying to find a Volkswagen guy I'm new to these engines and all the little things you gotta do I wish my budget was large enough I just swing away at it but I'm trying to save as much as I can so I have to buy as little as possible within reason our place what needs to be replaced but I just want to play this summer and maybe rebuild this winter but with that being said I don't like buying things twice so it's something for a few dollars more to get the better quality go ahead and do that
