Registration
Now that I have Heidi home and running it is time to get her proper and registered. As most of you know, we live in Alabama now but are moving to Senoia in the next few weeks. Just have a question for you guys... Here are the facts...
Body VIN is a 63
chassis VIN is a 61
planning on registering her to the body VIN here in Alabama and then just transferring the registration to a year specific tag in georgia once we move. Is it going to be a problem over there since it will be registered to the body VIN and not the chassis VIN? Thoughts and suggestions would greatly help.

Re: Registration
Do you still have the og pan?? If so no biggie. If not you are really suppose to go off the pan vin....I mean it won't cause a problem unless someone registers the og pan.....ask me how I know
Re: Registration
Here in Coweta Co. if the car hasn't been registered in the last 5 yrs a Deputy will have to come out and verify the VIN. Paper work can be downloaded from Coweta's Web site or Ga Dot. If you do this you can show him the VIN plate and don't say anything about the pan number. You'll be good to go.
My '66 the Deputy was a VW enthusiast so he knew to look both places but that pan was the OG pan. My '64 had a '59 under it so I pointed out the VIN plate and let him do his thing.
Hope to see you out and about, several of us in Newnan/PTC area.

Re: Registration
Thanks for the info bob. Do they have to inspect it even if it is registered in another state and then transferred? Since it is going to be a few weeks till we actually move, I was going to go ahead and register it here.
And it will be registered in coweta.
Look forward to seeing you guys out as well.

Re: Registration
WOW,
Must be a county thing.
I have drug in old cars and went to register them and they didn't care as long as I had $'s and insurance and a bill of sale / Title.
I'm in Whitfield County (but Gordon Co. used to be the same).

Re: Registration
I also would have used the pan Vin.
Body vins on the old bodies are just riveted on...
The pan will come across as being more permenate.

Re: Registration
They're picky about inspecting VIN tags in Cherokee county too. Had to have my 57 inspected when I brought it into GA 5 or 6 years ago.
