"Fatty", "Fat Chick"???

I just purchased my first Beetle - 74 Sunbug. From what I see, you guys call them "Fatty" or "Fat Chick"? Because their fenders are fat? Sorry for my ignorance - can someone please explain?

Ah! Thanks, guys. I haven't named "her" yet, but I don't think I'll call her Fat Chick - would just seem wrong from one middle age lady to another.

Hmm - so there is a thing between those who own early and those who own late model dubs? I preference the earlier myself (obviously).

I'm good with my dubness as well. But, for me to call my Sunbug a Fat Chick would be like a fish eating tuna.
