New 71 Westy
We got a Westy today. It's a '71 that was last tagged in 1983. Is in pretty good shape. Gotta get some tires and it doesn't have a motor. No rust underneath, the floors look pretty good and it doesnt look like the top has been leaking cause stuff inside looks pretty good. All complete inside. It has some pretty good surface rust on the outside and the right rear corner has some troubles, but that corner is the worst Michael could see. It will be interesting to get it home and get a better look. Couldn't pass it up for the price. It will be sittin in the barn for quite a while before we get to do much with it. THIS is the LAST VW we are buying!!!

Congrats, and I've said that crap before, Yeah right!
Give me a shout if ya need a hand in retrieving it. Love rescue missions.
Re: New 71 Westy
Thanks Ya'll! Offers of help are MUCH appreciated! Michael is going to round up tires tomorrow. The bus is not in a bad spot so, hope it won't be much problem. Can pull right up to it with the truck and trailer. Will let you know!
Re: New 71 Westy
Got the bus home yesterday. Has some cosmetic and body work troubles but the inside looks pretty good and the underneath does look great. Still has all the campmobile interior stuff, even the cots. But handles and such are needing replaced. Canvas needs replaced. Most all of it is original. Has an eight track player!
When we got it home.
After/during the first outside cleaning.

Re: New 71 Westy
A little CLR should get the rust out of the color, ie slider door. I'd cut it though and try it. Looks good, get an engine in it and redo the brakes, drive it!

Did you get the motor in? I still have the mounts that go on the mustache bar if you need em.

Re: New 71 Westy
Got Marcelle's motor running! It's been awhile. Gotta get some gas lines and want to get a regular bus muffler. Glad Michael won't have to be pullin it around with the tractor anymore (we hope)! Brakes next!
