I have one if you want to try it. Your welcome to bring it up to the shop and put it in there. Make sure it works before paying for it, maybe can see why it broke as well.

I'll take you up on that. I'll bring all the parts I have and see if we can figure it out.

Waxed it. Very Happy Also lost 10 pounds and feel much better. (The car, not me!) Dropped front to 20 lbs per tire and it feels really different (better) on the road!

Did ya grease tha cable? i mean really grease it? I had a problem where my 74 super kept breaking cables, and i finally shoved a rag at the end of the tube at the pedals, ran about 3 cans of brake cleaner thru it (A LOT of SHIT came out, lol), and took a modified grease gun (took a little piece of rubber hose, and clamped the end of the grease gun to the end of the accel tube, and pumped away). took 2 small canisters of grease, and then shoved the accel tube thru. i did this two years ago. The first year i had the car, i went thru 4 or 5 cables. Since i did the grease idea two years ago, i haven't broken the cable again since. it might have been the crap in the cable that kept breaking them, or it might have just been lack of grease. either way, That cable shouldn't break for a very long time, lol. i even found some nipple looking grommets at advance, that i then clamped to the end of the tube, and the accel cable goes thru it. the idea was to keep dirt out, and it worked for a while, until the rubber cracked away (either the grease ate it up, or it was really cheap rubber) Laughing

It keeps breaking right near the end where the piece is that the linkage clamps to. It's not exactly in line and these single strand wire accel cables just don't have any flex. I am thinking of just getting some braided aircraft type cable and fabbing up my own cable. It should flex at the pivot point and cure this I think.

wow, i've never seen single stranded accel cables? is this for your 66 bus? if so, i'm pretty sure IAS has them, and i know they are the multistrand german ones (maybe brazillian). let me know if this is for your bus, and i'll check when i go there tomorrow. PM me your phone number, and i'll call you when i get there, and let ya know, or i can just PM afteri get home, whatever you want.

You could set up a cottage industry with the Kids building these for sale.
They are expensive.
Just a thought.

Years ago I worked at REI and did a little bit of business on the side customizing backpacks and repairing tents, etc. I didn't make a lot of money but It did give me some capital to buy some nice sewing machines.
