Well, I thought I'd keep a log here of the progress I make with a freebie Bradley GT Body. I got it home a few weeks ago, and have been getting it off the woodpile, and examining the mess I've gotten into now.
So far I've gotten the it sitting level and supported the sagging, cracked body. Here are some photos of what free can get you! Shocked

Yeah, those front wheel openings are pretty hacked.

Notice the alignment between the rear spoiler and the front windshield frame- ouch.

After I got the wood stack cleared out from underneath and supported the shell- I added an old family heirloom (originally from my families '66 Bug that I learned to drive in).

Well, that's it for now. Wish me luck, try not to laugh out loud if I'm in earshot, and if you know of any parts- let me know!

Update- The project is taken a step forward, and continues right along on budget. Going to be heading to pick up a pan to put under it soon. No beam or axle. Should only need some minor mending. Cost? Gas money, again!
Will be helpful to have it on a pan to start straightening and repairing the body.

Got the floor pan home. It's a little rougher than I had hoped, but I'm not disappointed, as the price was worth the trip. The battery tray will need replacing, and the drivers side has a pretty good bend in the edge from a -bone that took care of the body. You might notice the hunk of heater tube that is still attached the the edge of the pan. I'll just beat it back down an straighten it for now, but will have to decide whether or not to replace in the long run. I also was gifted a pair of seats from Kale. Hopefully the won't be too difficult to get them attached....some day.

Do yourself a favor build a boxed frame around that pan to tie body down and seat braces.Boxed frame with trimmed in pans would work well for your project.

Considering the pans previous experience (being t-boned) and seeing how much support the steel Bug body must have provided- it has really got me thinking about how much less protection fiberglass provides. I have thought about ways to increase the safety ( ie.- some type of 'cage') and your idea would certainly be a good foundation for increased strength- thanks!
