How big is the swap meet usually? We need to pick up a few odds and ends for the bus and would rather pick them up from a swap meet than over the internet. From what I'm reading this is a Sunday event.

Yes this is a Sunday event. Gates open at 8am. All the info can be found at this link
http://www.kandlmotorsports.com/silverdollar/silverdollar.htm
As for swap meet, we usually have a good crowd, not HUGE, but always a good selection. If you can't find what you need, someone might be able to point you in the right direction.
Information on Camping and pre-show setup Saturday.
This will be available Sat evening after 5pm.
For the racers, They will be having a test and tune session on Saturday from 1-5, if you would like to come get some runs in before the event.
Gates will close at 11pm.
Re: SEVWA's Silver Dollar Showdown #13 March 9th (GA)
We hope so as well. We can't control what racers come, just try our best to get them out there!vw57drvr wrote:I hope the racing is more alive this year.

Come on! The plan is to meet at the Ingles in Griffin between 2 and 2:30. We'll be pulling out around 2:30. Address for the Ingles is 1735 Zebulon Rd, Griffin, GA 30224. I think it's just under an hour and a half drive from Griffin to the Steak and Shake. We usually head to steak and shake for a few hours and then go over to the track to set up camp (if you wanted to camp).
I think this plan is pretty definite, but check here saturday morning to make sure there were no last minute changes.

Awesome, will do! I'm pretty sure my bucket should be good to go. I've been all around the perimeter in it with no issues, but this will be the first true road trip with it. Look forward to meeting you guys.

If I can get out of Rome in time, I would like to meet up also. I think the oval is up for the trip.....minus heat.

High is going to be low 70's, so you shouldn't need too much heat unless you plan on leaving Rome super early.

I know it'll be me, bryce, cameron, and I think a few others that don't post up too often are also meeting there. Should have about 5-6 southside cars there. Plus you and vdubyou if he is still coming. I'm going to pm you two my number in case y'all need to text/call (running behind or have problems and can't make it).

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. I don't think I'm going to make it down tomorrow. If I get to come down, it will be most likely on Sunday.

Got home a few hours ago. Fun weekend as always. Big thanks to Alan for the breakfast and forest load of firewood! And thanks Penni for lunch! Also a huge thanks to Darrell, John, Jeff and the B4C guys for bringing the loaner drum for me!
Here are some pics I got, mostly the trip down and camping.
Ready to get on the road, heading out from BP
.........and about 2 minutes later, lol.
Finally got the fuel pump issue resolved and headed to our first stop.
Sorry, that was supposed to be Steak and Shake, but apparently I didn't get pictures there.
On to the campsite/bonfire
Mystical Color Flames as the case is warming up!!!
Case is finally going
Russian Lantern
Morning
Breakfast casserole and cinnamon rolls
Only pic I got from the show area

Re: SEVWA's Silver Dollar Showdown #13 March 9th (GA)
I have to be brutally honest here....sometimes, like most of us I believe, I question why we do certain things, I question if it really makes a difference, if we are really here for a cause, a purpose, a reason. Not speaking specifically of this ministry, but life in general. I'm human, I do Trust in God and know He is guiding me in great directions, but I falter and question things.
Well today answered and kind of verified to me that yes we do make a difference. We went back to the Silver Dollar Showdown Car Show in Reynolds, GA. That's the first place we took the Methodist Children's Home Macon Bug after we spent a week rebuilding it. That's the first trophy we got to take back to the kids at the home.
There were ton's of people at this show today and I can't tell you how many of them saw our Bugs4Christ stickers in the cars and stopped to talk about the Methodist Home bug, wanting to know if we auctioned it, if they were happy with the results, to thank us for being back, etc. The whole car show event kind of took a back seat to the conversations I got to have with people today, and it was great to see so many caring and remembering.
We also had a lot that were at the Cruise In we did for the Alvarado Family back in October. I got many questions asking how the family was doing, if the kids were better, and some even remembered their names, remembered how old they were, etc. I loved being able to share how well they are all doing now and how, even though their lives are changed forever by the accident, that the generosity of strangers showing up to support them in any little way they could was also life changing....in some ways for the family, and I hope, in a big way, in some ways for the people that attended and cared.
Seriously, We've talked about doing more shows, more cruise ins, getting more of our cars out to make a difference by speaking and sharing Christ's Love with people, and even though we only had 2 cars there we got to witness changes in people, and caring in people.
I'm humbled, I'm honored, I'm almost speechless (ok, not really, I could write all night), and most of all, I'm changed...I doubt less, and I think we need to share more!
Thank you to all of you that asked, and thank you for all that came by to say hello, and we'll see you at the next one, whatever it may be!!!!!
