Who has camped at Bugapaluza? It will be my first time going, maybe
If the stars align on my sons baseball schedule I'd like to go to Bugapaluza and camp in my Westy.
How tight are the spots? I hear its well attended so I was guessing folks may be crammed in there.
How's the crowd/noise at night? I love a good crowd during the day but when it's time to hit the hay I'd just assume go get a hotel or camp somewhere else than listen to rowdiness all night. I'm a little gun shy after a few racetrack camp outs.
Your impressions and experiences would be appreciated.

Bug-a-paluza is great because of the camping! Due to the number of us that camp there, we are fairly close to each other, but not too close. There are a few loud folks at times, but they don't go on all night and usually quiet down when asked. My son and I have camped there every year since he was 4 years old. He is now 14 and looks forward to Bug-a-paluza still.
Bring the kids and the Westy and start making some great memories.

Yeah, it can be a little crowded, but we usually have a big group, so we squeeze in together pretty tight. There are usually spaces that are less crowded though and offer more room. The first 4-5 years we drove the bug and camped in a tent (except for the monsoon year, when we abandoned the tent and found a hotel). The tent doesn't offer a whole lot of sound insulation, so those years we could hear a few folks into the late hours. Last year was the first year we took our bus, and it was amazing! Being in the bus really helped keep things quiet for us at bedtime (we're usually one of the first ones to retire). We also have a little noise maker doo-hickey that has a "white noise" setting. We turn that on low when in the bus and that really helps a lot too. If you're going to be in a bus, I wouldn't worry too much about the noise, I think you'll be ok.
Hope to see you there, it really is a blast and one of the best camping/show events of the year.

My 80 Westy is ready for me to get the interior back inside...thanks for the wakeup call. I have been going for a few years and always wanted to camp...but not in my 67 beetle. So, I found this in a barn in Smyrna, GA two years ago; had it painted last summer...woohoo, what fun

no, that's Import Restoration, Toby and John on Atlanta rd. next to Dobbins. Great place. Toby had this 80 Westy sitting there for parts,15 years. He has a 82 Westy...did all the mechanical not cheap but I thought the work was done correctly, engine rebuild, brakes, fuel system, clutch, axels put about 6K into it before paint. The gias are well kept, up on wheels, no trees growing through them, but outside and rusting a slow death

Ok, I'm fired up to go now.
So what's the plan on best time to get there and get a spot? Based on your experience?
I still have to check my son's baseball schedule which we don't know yet. But, he's fired up for the show too.

You can likely find a spot to squeeze in no matter what time you get there. Obviously, the earlier you get there, the better of a spot you can get. There are only so many electrical hook-ups, so you may want to bring a pretty long extension cord if you need power for anything. Keep in mind though, most of the outlets have a million cords off of them, so any items that draw a lot of power are likely to trip the breaker. Were you planning on camping both Friday and Saturday night or just Saturday?
They also have a shower "bus". It looks and sounds a little sketchy, but it's actually awesome if you are up there Fri-Sun and want to freshen up. It always has hot water. Just be sure to bring some flip flops, towel, and soap/shampoo!

Re: Who has camped at Bugapaluza? It will be my first time going, maybe
Well, I'd like to get there early and stay the whole time so, that's what I'm aiming for. At the same time I don't know my sons baseball schedule yet. So if its just skipping a practice, well then we're there the whole time. If there's a game getting in the way, we may have to come later.
