Machine Shop Recommendations? Empty Machine Shop Recommendations?

Post by Alpha_Maverick Wed Jul 18, 2012 10:50 am

I spun a rod bearing on my poor 69 beetle, Bettie. I'm building a new engine, and I need to have the rotating assembly balanced, and I'm looking for machine shop recommendations. I want this engine to last, so I want to know to what tolerance the machine shop can balance. I'm in marietta, and closer would be better, but quality trumps convenience, by a long shot.

So... Who do y'all recommend?

Thanks for the reco. I just looked at their Services list, and didn't see dynamic balancing, or crankshaft balancing... I called, and left a message. We'll see what they say.

Any others? I guess I'd also like to know what you've had done at the shop you're recommending, if you don't mind.

They took a long block some hack had put together and remachined and assembled the whole thing into a nice running, non-leaking engine.
I think their website stinks but they know how to build engines for sure.

yikes. What did that cost you?

Sadly, I'm having trouble getting parts that are within tolerances, so I'm behind schedule, but I'm still looking around. Any one else with a recommendation/corroboration?
