The Mutt Bug
I started posting pictures in my intro newb from Covington but figured I'd start a build thread here to try and have it in the right section.
Made some more progress this weekend. Got my 64 hood installed and started doing some super hacking. Got the open top cut in and started on the 6" chop top.

If you ever get to come to Chattanooga, go by and see the store, they have a couple of VW's in Corky's collection in the back.Do Work 93YJ wrote:Yes them guys were great to work with. Spent a lot of time on the phone with them.ASBug wrote:Coker Tire?

Re: The Mutt Bug
Yeah the carzy thing was I ordered my tires Tuesday and went to Chattanooga Wed. to deliver a Jeep I sold and they told me it was cheaper for them to ship them instead of me pick them up cause of the Tenn. sales tax. If I hadn't have been in such a hurry I would have loved to have atleast stopped by to check the place out. I plan on going back to Chattanooga soon and plan on going by Coker to see the place.ASBug wrote:If you ever get to come to Chattanooga, go by and see the store, they have a couple of VW's in Corky's collection in the back.Do Work 93YJ wrote:Yes them guys were great to work with. Re: The Mutt Bug
Spent today parts running. Got my header, drop spindles, adaptors, back wheels, and other small items. Also picked up a fuel tank from a buddy to save from having to buy a new one.

Re: The Mutt Bug
Even though I only have my back wheels, since the front are special order, I couldn't stand it and mounted them and slapped them on.

Re: The Mutt Bug
Slow going this week got the front drop spindles on and started cleaning on the motor. Also picked up my 36 horse shroud and stuck everything on to make sure I don't need to do any trimming before I send it to powdercoat. Last thing for today was finished up wrapping my header.

Re: The Mutt Bug
Did you use the 1" wide or the 2" wide product? Did you get the 50' or the 15' I would think the 50', I also have Jtubes to wrap as well. I have that exact same set up (shrouds etc.) on the '63.
Thanks,
KC

I've got a little left that might do the J tubes but not sure yet. May have to get into my second roll some.

Re: The Mutt Bug
Worked on the Mutt somemore this weekend and got the list of things to do shorter. Cut somemore out of the front and back of the car, made new tierods for the steering since the steering box was moved to the center, and pressure washed the ol dirty girl.

Re: The Mutt Bug
Once it was cleaned up and brought back in we got back on the chop and was able to get the front and b piller area tacked back in.
After everything was tacked in we cut the rest of the back off and hopefully I can get time tomorrow to start building it back.

Re: The Mutt Bug
Well after about 4 hours today and rechecking measurements what seemed like 1000 times we got the back tacked on and everything lined back up as far as the drip rails. Now comes the fun part of filling in all the missing sheetmetal and working the rear window opening. Just glad to see the top tacked back on and able to get an idea of the finished product. Really happy with how it turned out.
