Looks in the picture that there aren't many rust issues. Great find.

Re: my newly aquired
Thanks guys....the bus is actually in decent shape....only found 4 places where it is rusted through.....about the size of a quarter(all 4 places)...and a big dent on the front nose area....the kid i got it from started off saying it was a '71-- when we picked it up he was saying it was a '76--when we got it home and started looking it over we found the sticker where it says it's a '74....now to find a tranny for it and get the type 4 fixed up for it and i can be cruizin' around town.....plans are to lower(not slam)--fix the dents and dings....fix the rusted places....and repaint it-----but,for now i just want to get it moving under it own power--then all the rest a little at a time

Strange, it looks like the "later bay" (1972+) turn signals and tail lights. I could be wrong. Either way, Get it Rollin'

Re: my newly aquired
What a good find. I just found a 1970 near my house in about the same condition as yours, but with no engine. But the 60+year old man is using it as a storage and has no intention of selling it. Put some blak primer, crome rims and slam it. OHHH and 5% window tints.

Re: my newly aquired
Question for the Bay or Bus guys......
How can you mount a type 1 tranny into a bus that had a type 4 tranny in it without changing the bell housing ??
Does someone sell a mounting bracket for that little problem ??
Reason I'm asking is because I'm going to use a type 1 for now until I can get the type 4 running.

Re: my newly aquired
Finally got a couple things done on the Bay...
Joe got most of the dent out of the front of it.....
Nothing a hammer and block of wood couldn't handle......
Cleaned out all the trash and junk that was in it....
And the best part is that we got a tranny put in today...
Now to wait on a freind to bring me some axles for it......
Then we can put something in to make it move on its own.....

In the first pic you can see how bad the dent was on the front....in the second pic you can see an improvement....

I spent all afternoon getting this A/C stuff out-off and fromm under the bay...talk about a PIA...
[/img]
Tomorrow I'll have to figure out how to get the wiring for the A/C out without breaking out the wire cutters...
[/img]
Damn it's dirty under a bus.....more later...

Re: my newly aquired
Did not realize it had been so long since working on the bus last time.....
But got it back up to the shop and getting it ready to start blasting the interior floor....
Got to get all the rust off and repainted and protected......
Doing it one section at a time....
Starting in the front--going to blast the floor and the seat areas.....

This might be a long process but it will be worth it....

Re: my newly aquired
Over the past 2 or 3 week-ends been doing a little work on the bay. Thought I would add a few new pics here.
Got the holes in the bulk heads behind the front seats plugged..just need to finish cleaning up.

I only had one door panel...so I used it as a template to make two new ones.
I used the one fresh air duct as a template to make two new ones also.

I'm kinda proud of the fact we were able to figure all that out.
Now to cross my fingers and hope I can get the door panels put together and they fit correctly.

An hour...That's too much time to leave you alone.....
Cool deal on getting the 68 ready for paint....it's not very difficult.

She straightened them out on the first day.
But they are young and keep forgetting.

Man, I can't imagine how an air conditioner ever work on a bus and how much power did it rob from the engine.
