Re: The Bumblebuggy
Got the tags yesterday. First test drive was flawless. The car runs almost perfect. Think I may have to crank the up idle ever so slightly because the engine almost wants to quit when it backs down from normal cruise speeds. I'm going to have to replace the vavle cover gaskets and maybe the the covers too. Leaks under both heads. Drove it to work this morning and still have a S#$%eating grin on my face. "Done" pics comming as soon as I can get my hands off the wheel long enough to find my camera.

Re: The Bumblebuggy
It's registered as a 1968 VW Beetle. Custom tag is on order. Temp tag to get me on the road until it comes in. To read... "BMBLBGY"
Thanks for the compliments on the dash. I like the simple clean look. Thats one of the reasons is has a hoop instead of a full cage. It has six points of contact for more rigidity in the event somone decides to play bumper cars with me.
The 1776 doesn't feel like a rocket when you hammer the pedal down but the cars in the mirror get smaller real quick. It's deceptively quick. I have trouble keeping it under sixty because the engine pitch is so different from the bus. Haven't been on the interstate yet but I feel the car will cruise quite easily @ 70+ mph. I need to let some of the air out of the front tires to make the ride a little softer. It does great on normal pavement but hits the bumps a little too hard for my liking.

Re: The Bumblebuggy
We only ran about 15 psi in front tires of the rails. A little different car but the weight is about the same.
Re: The Bumblebuggy
Font end is now aligned 15psi in the front tires and 20 in the rear. Still rides a little bumpy on the rough areas but good overall. Took it on the interstate today. 75 is not a problem if the speedo is reading acurately at the higher speeds. Front end still feels solid at those speeds as well. It doesn't feel like it's lifting or getting light.
All that's left now is new valve cover gaskets and straighten up the steering wheel a couple splines.
