Shifter Adjustment Empty Shifter Adjustment

Post by tronview Wed Apr 13, 2011 4:07 pm

My 1975 Westy just got its transmission rebuilt and installed. With all the adjustments and new bushings, my shifter got out of alignment. I have researched several ways of adjusting it and have gotten it pretty close. But it is still not right. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to getting the shifter to work like clockwork? This is a stock shifter not a aftermarket.

This is whats always worked for me
Just loosen the 2 bolts so the shifter is loose.
Put it in fourth gear and tighten down
Sometimes putting it in second works better but one of the 2 has always worked for me.

It's a type 4 motor, can't you just use 4th and reverse?
