Shadow my 74 Super
Well I shocked myself today and brought home a fat chick . I have never really been a fan of the Supers but there was just something about this Bug that really grabbed me. It has a stock 1600 dp engine that runs great. Topline struts, new 8 spoke rims, completely new interior, and new paint. It was hard to let Herbie go but I am happy with my decision. I will take more pictures of it tomorrow but here is the only one I have right now.
Re: Shadow my 74 Super
Wow!! Never saw that coming....I will have to get my 74 running so he will have some company!

Re: Shadow my 74 Super
So did someone in the club(Ga Dubs) end up with Herbie? That looks like Baker's car but I only saw it once! Congrats anyways Gary, I've been in your shoes couple times lately and it is hard. I want to finish Geek and get a Bus but just can't come to terms of letting O'Bugga go!

Nice, looks like it used to have A/C
So, are you going to add stripes to it??

I noticed that panel too, but i've never seen an AC consol so small. looks like one of those aftermarket underdash radio, or gauge panels. the evaporator is usually in the consol. unless they mounted it somewhere else. so i don't think thats an AC consol, but i may be wrong.
anyhoo, looks awsome. what are your plans for it? some mods, or just roll it as is?

Re: Shadow my 74 Super
I did some of the interior work to it such as the headliner the seatcovers and door panels. I also did the engine reseal. As I recall, it was not equipped with a/c. Bobby, my cousin and partner in BKR, filled the quarter glass vents and rust repair that is typical in that area. I hope you enjoy it Gary. Bob, you saw me driving it at the Toys for Tots cruise from Herrills 2 years ago.

Re: Shadow my 74 Super
Thanks again everyone. It was originally a aircondition car. He pulled the compressor since it wasn't working and I have no intentions of putting it back. If you look at the fan shroud you can see the drivers side has the curved heat duct for clearence of the compressor.
I don't know my plans for it yet. First I have got to change the front tires. It has Topline struts on it to lower it and the tires are rubbing the fenders pretty bad. It has 185's on it right now which is way to wide. Once I get a smaller tire I will be able to sit it a little lower. It can go down 2 more notches on the struts. I will also probably change the tail lights eventually.

You are a better man then I. I'm trying to install a ford fs10 compressor in mine, lol. I hate the heat.

Yeah, the later supers with the two-bolt style stut housing will not go as low as the 71/72 three bolt version. You can't flip the swaybar either. The smaller tire will probably help some, but the offset of the 8 spokes will be the limiting factor. A different choice of wheel would put the tire a little futher in the fenderwell and you could gain a little more clearance.
