Help me out with the VIN / Year found and a few pics

Hey guys I need you help. Trying to figure out the vin on this bus that I got. According to what I see first is a 2/21 which according to The Samba that says pre 58. Is there any other location for a body VIN? It does say Western Germany and Volkswagenwerks.

Thanks for the info. According to the numbers I have found it appears to have been made some time between November and December of 1957
So I have me a 1958 yea

what are you doing this comming up weekend? I will help you clean her up and see what we could do about the running situation, looks very interesting but be aware I work fast and non-stop

That's flipping sweet! Looks really solid. You could have it rat rolling in a couple weeks. Safaris by themselves make it worth any work or $ it cost you to get it home. Be careful of that wrap around the heater pipe in the middle as it's made with asbestos. Brakes, RGB rebuild, fresh engine, general cleanup and roll.

Very nice, Did it at one time have writting on the side? This is considered a 1958. Are the bumpers there?

In the first set of pics from the original thread, it appears to have a late front bumper on it. Doesn't look to have a rear.

From he looks 58. You have 2 vins, one in the engine compartment right side stamped into the body, and another behind the pass seat. Is the pass seat a plate or stamped into the bulkhead???

There is no plate aka tag all numbers are stamped in. According to the numbers its a 58. I have it under a tarp right now. I did get it completely cleaned out and swept out. Not to bad.
I will have my share of rust repair. But its on hold until I finish the German Look.

Thank you all for this one. I just found out I have a bus that is a 63 or earlier. I will work out the numbers and see what I have.

63-60/59 you will have plates down to 58/59. If 58/59 down go by the number stamped into the bulkhead vs the body # in the engine compartment.
