Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
Thanks guys,
I don't have any pics today, but i did get the windows and rubbers removed from the doors, as well as the door handles and latch mechanism.
I also picked up a donor door to fix the rust on the passenger side door, and took them to a buddy of mine to be fixed. this is the only body work i plan on having done, the rest im hoping to do myself.
hoping to start body work tomorrow
Michael

progress:
removed the rear fenders
removed steering column
removed gas tank
disconnected wiring
and removed body bolts
now the body is ready to come off, as soon as i get our stands back.
then went to the canton cruise in
then came home and sanded the entire car with 150 grit to make sure all the body work holds

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
Not a whole lot of progress seeing as I had to work all weekend
but i did fix the rear seat problem
seeing as 55 and earlier seats are different and have hinges that allow them to be bolted to the car differently, this allows people to ask crazy prices for OG rear seats, so i came up with a solution...
I made adapter plates for the back rest which raise the seat up to the correct hight, but still allow the seat to be folded down
these will of course be cleaned up and reshaped to be more easy on the eyes
the second problem is that an early seat is wider than a later and also has a different contour the back of the seat. To solve this I made a rest bar for the seat to lean against using some pipe stock and by utilizing the factory knobs on both sides, the bar is in the perfect position to hold the seat. Im planning to make it look as a stress bar for the rear, and im curious if it does help with the rigidity of the car.... on to the pics...
this is still in planning, it will be cleaned up and finished later in the resto
I don't plan on having many people in the backseat but i do like the idea of it being secure if someone does need to ride in the back.
comments/criticisms are appreciated guys!

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
It will definately be installed before the body goes back on!
I swapped out the steering box with a much better one!(big thanks to O'Bryant)
and got the seats put away, and the pan covered up, and put some plastic down so when I get back from vacation I can get this thing in some primer.

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
thought i would toss up some pics of the refinished steering wheel
cleaned thoroughly and basically dipped in clear!
yea i could have made it slick and painted it stock ivory but it took 50 years to make this steering wheel like it is, and to me its art!
