Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
^^^Thanks
Evelyn is buffed! wet sanded and all... Just needs a good wax.
put all of the trim on except for the hood trim, they sent a badge less hood trim.
I have tomorrow off, hopefully i can make some real progress on this thing.

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
Man thats nice!! Would love to see it in person. You look like you did a great job. Know lets see this thing out in the sun.
Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
Thanks much!
I rolled it into the sun today, with the intent to take pics but just didnt get around to it.
alittle work done today
bumpers mounted, lights mounted, along with some wiring, still have plenty more wiring to do, even though im using the same harness.

Looks great! Wish I had the time, money and energy to redo mine. Of course I am very grateful just to get my '59 back on the road.

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
Thanks! it takes alot of each, but i found the more you do yourself the more you save of the second one!
Progress:
body bolted down
all wiring finished
fenders and fender welt installed
tag light housing installed
gas tank installed
glovebox installed
and a few other little things.
oh yea...I drove it!
just a little though, enough to move it out into the sunlight, brakes need rebleeding, the engine smoked alot when i first started it, im thinking its just from sitting we'll see....

eh, the pics make it look really good, but there are some imperfections.
I am going to school to be a painter though...but its only my first semester, still learning about brakes...

Just remember the old sayin' "That sh!t will buff out"
A lot of paint imperfections can be wet sanded out, and once you get into a paint booth that's clean and well lit you'll do fantastic

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
idk zabo hit me up, my only prob is my compressor isnt really big enough to do alot of spraying...
yea, i have already wetsanded and buffed the car and smoothed a lot of it out. just need to throw on some wax to make it slick again.
progress:alot
windows in...Oh, how i hate vent windows (but i did finally get some vent window positioners???? (the things that hold the window open))
running boards on
carpet installed
seats installed
hooked up speedo cable
adjusted brakes
at first i thought i would refinish the YOM tag, after starring at it for a while, i decided to clear it, and leave its beautifully broken finish alone.
ordered a windshield with Lindy, should be a week or so to have it cut.
next project is homescratch door panels, then figure out what to do for headliner.
thanks to my cousin Tyler for machining out some clean rear seat adapters for me!
and one of the Jet, just because
Thanks,
Michael

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
if you painted the complete inside, you could cover just the center section of the roof. you can glue foam and material directly to the metal and tuck edges into the surrounding metal. just a suggestion?.....

That is the plan, just cover the center section, cuz its such a shame to cover up the nice paint. though i was going to make a real center section with bows to go in there, now im thinking this ^^^ may be a good idea! alot less sewing (which i can handle, just rather not )
Haha, nice Callahan, but I've came this far...cant leave it bare!
now Petes got on his thinking cap! ill just leave a hole in the headliner add some sky.... alot cheaper than the other option! (3fold:shock:) then put up some glow in the dark stars= ready to roll!

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
This is the plan, only with my green car, and grey headliner of course!
its the same headliner that came in standard model cars.
I have thought about putting the bamboo headliner back in it, but i just think it would look out of place...
