Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
Thanks guys!
I love the Agave, its an awesome color! not as bright as the miami blue i sprayed the rabbit with, but just as unique!
well most of my classes are online, and i only work on the weekends, so I have plenty of time to work on the car.
the paint looks good, there is some orange peel that will be buffed out, aswell as a few runs hopefully it will all polish out!
as long as it looks better than when i started, im happy!
hopefully I can get the body on first of next week and start putting it back together!

vwovalchild wrote:Man that is an awesome color. I have always loved that color. I have a file in my computer of different VW's for there colors. This color is in my favorite list.
Guess I wont paint mine this color since you beat me to it!!! LOL
Great JOB!!!
you could always do pastel green which may be correct for your 54 depending on how early in jan it was made. It is only a shade off from agave I considered it aswell, not a big fan of the OG iceland green for 54 and 55 though.
rag is agave split is pastel

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
In the picture above how much do you think the car in the backs, beam has been narrowed? 5"?
Ther BRM's looks great on that car

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
I know for sure that split is on air
with a closer look id say between 3-4 inches, although it could possibly be 5. my 74 had a 3 1/3"ish beam and looked similar
for more pics of that car go to airmighty.com then gallery, page 5, then "chill out day" at the brink.
i wish i had a 4 or 5 on the 55, the 6 is too much to me
this is the 3 n change beam on the 74

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
Thanks. Just trying to decide for the 57. I was thinking 4 or 5 inch narrowed. Haven't decided yet. Just trying to get some ideas
Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
I may have a 4inch beam if this from Cartersville doesn't come through tomorrow.

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
personally i like 4s, enough to tell its narrowed, but you can still see the wheels. offsets make a huge difference too. if you are considering fuchs they have crazy offsets. 4.5 5.5 and 6s each have different offests i think, the narrowed beam thread on the samba under readers rides is a good reference.

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
you have a 67 under the oval? I talked to Tim Baker on trying to decide what year trans axle to get for the oval. He suggested a 67 I think due to the longer axles.
Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
yea the whole pan, tranny and all is 67, ball joint, long axle ect. the long axles worked out for the deep 6s it would prob be rubbing if i didnt have long axles.
i like this stance alot, 4in would put me really close i think
yea another green on brms, so played... thats why i didn't get brms! (though fuchs are as popular sliced bread) (then again stocks, 5 spokes, and even rader wheels are getting played!)

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
I agree this is pretty sweet looking. Love the stance of this one. I think BRM's are real clean looking though. Wish we could run those plates here in the US. I will have to stick to stock wheels until a later date. After selling the German Look my wife has claimed half the money so I only have $2,500 to get the 57 on the road. and it is sitting bare with nothing in it. Not even wiring. Very little metal work needs to be done to it other than pans. I am planing on starting next week on it.
Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
just wanted to see what the flutes look like fuchs should look good tucked!
assembled tailights, and bullets (which were both difficult from fear of scratching the paint!)
also found out that i forgot to paint the ashtry
luckily i still have some paint left over!
plan is to install engine compartment seals tonight after band practice, that way i can get the body back on the pan as soon as i get some volunteers!
Thanks for looking!
comments help keep motivation up!

Thanks fried chicken
i would like to get the body on as soon as possible, that way i could just roll it in the driveway and wet sand it. its supposed to be wet sanded next day or two but i've had to work, i may just grab a bucket of water and wet sand it in the garage until i get a chance to reunite the two.

Too narrow ? how narrow did you go? I think it looks great
keep up the good work

Re: 1955 Oval - Evelyn
the beam came with the car, its a 6in, but with adapters in the front its like a 4in beam, the offsets on the fuchs make it look real narrow...
maybe i just need to lower it a little in the front to make it look better, i'll play with it... im out of $$$$ for a new beam!
