Lithia Mark III Buggy
I picked up this buggy about 2 years ago locally here in Griffin. Price was right and it was less than 10 minutes from the house. Its a Lithia Mark III which is very similar to a Lido and El Lobo. I have slowly been picking up a few pieces here and there. A good buddy game me a 66 beetle tunnel. I picked up a beam here from the same buddy as the tunnel for a good price. I already have a type 3 swingaxle for it that is coming out of the low light ghia. Here are some pictures of the body.
Re: Lithia Mark III Buggy
After picking up the 66 donor tunnel I went to work shortening it up 14.5 inches. I did my normal z cut that I have done on the last two I have shortened.
Re: Lithia Mark III Buggy
Cant remember if it was before I shortened the tunnel or after but I had a set of cheap pans find my way. A friend here in town purchased a wrecked 68 beetle for parts. Someone installed new pans not long before the car was wrecked but their installation poor and the wreck almost caused the pans to completely separate from the tunnel. As he was parting the car out he removed the pans and sold them to me cheap.
I had to remove what looked like liquid nail and some kind of tar sealant. There were a few holes that needed welded up and bang out a few dents and bends but they cleaned up pretty good. Next I removed 14.5 inches from each of them. Like I did previously I wanted to try and keep them somewhat factory looking. Then finally installed them on the tunnel. Still need a little more welding and grinding but almost ready to head to the blaster.
