No gear available to shift
I had a stroke in august, so my Thing has been sitting for a few months. Friday my son went to pull it out of the garage and he couldn't drive it back inside after. Would not stay in gear, at all. No idea what could have happened. Any suggestions appreciated. Was told it could be gland nut in the housing freezing up. I have no clue, Wot be able to work on it until Spring, if I recover all the way.

Re: No gear available to shift
Does it go in gear at all? Maybe the shift coupler came loose.

Re: No gear available to shift
Gland nut just has a bearing in it to align the input shaft. If the nut came loose, the clutch and flywheel would fall off.

Thanks, the coupler seemed likely to me...my 911 had that issue and I replaced the coupler it shifted better than ever.
