PostSubject: Looking for rear clip.   Mon Oct 26, 2009 11:26 pm

Hi yall. i'm looking for the rear clip for my bug. i need the rear clip, as well as the sides where the bumber bracket bolts to. So if you've just done a baja conversion, i need what you just cut off, hahaha. i really want the earlier style, that uses the longer decklid (i think its 67 and back, but not sure), not the short style decklikd found on 70's model bugs. if you also happen to have a decklid, thats cool too. Don't have a lot to spend, and would also be willing to trade for whatever. i can also add some cash to the trade, depending on the condition. some rust is fine, but i don't want any heavy pitted rust, or rust holes (thats why i cut off the old one, lol).

Here are some reference pics.

I want a rear clip that uses this type of decklid:

NOT this kind:

Again, i need the whole rear clip, with the sides that the bumper bracket bolts to. i really just need about half of that side part, as the part thats cut off on my bug is going vertical, about even with the pulley.

Here is a pic of my bug, so you can kinda see how much i need (no the turbo kit os not currently on there, its stock now):

Thanks
-Mike

Hey,
If you decide to go with the correct rear for your car you can come and get the rear of the '71 super that I have. Come and cut off what you want and I'll throw in a BRAND NEW rear apron for $120.
You can cut up as far as you want.
LMK if your interested.
Car is close to electrical so you can bring your sawsall.
I'll even throw in a usable 1970 2 vent row hood that is usable - Needs paint and sanding.
Thanks,
KC
Car is in Dalton GA.
You can buy the shell with no interior, trannie, or doors for $220.
If you need good doors / glass - add $50
If you need a trannie / starter - add $50.
Let me know.

If i can't find an early model apron, i will definately take you up on that. i'm also interested in the tranny. Its IRS, rght? do you know anything about its condition? ever drove it? I would actually need it for the same car i need the clip for, as reverse is about to go out on it. I was teaching my brother to drive stick, and he shoved it into reverse with out pressing the clutch. now it makes an awful grinding noise while backing up, lol.

I have a rear clip off a 1962 bug, it has a little rust under the rear bumper mounts, but very usable. It also has the sides that go back almost to the luggage tray. I was going to put it up here for $40.00.

I work in Smyrna, I am off I 285 Exit 15 (South Cobb). That puts me 40 miles closer to you.
