Which do you prefer to drive? Bug or Bus?
This is for those who either currently have or at some point owned both a Bus and a Beetle. I had 2 Beetles prior to my Westy. I'm surprised at how much I like sitting up over the front wheel in the Westy.
But, we are on a slow hunt for a pre-'68 Beetle and I look forward to driving a Bug again.
Just curious to see if other have a preference for one over the other.....

Re: Which do you prefer to drive? Bug or Bus?
I have a love / hate relationship with busses.
I have owned 8 of them and always keep coming back.
Right now I have a chance to buy a '68 that I used to own a few years ago.
Same guy also has a '64 beetle that is pretty nice.
either of them would be cool, but with 4 kids the wife and I a bus is probably where I will go next...

That '64 is not the same on the Atlanta Craigslist is it? Though that I'm referring to is down near Macon so I guess not?
Yep, if you've got a Ghia already and a family, hard to argue against a Bus for you now...

I love the buses and even though the original question is like asking do you want to go slow or slower, buses give a driver a view and an attitude that is just relaxing compared to a beetle.
Slow is good in a world of cell phones and constant pressure to go faster in life and traffic.
Just do not get in a hurry with a stocker and you are golden with either...

I like driving both so it usually depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Usually I prefer driving my beetles for my daily around town type driving.

I loved driving my buses over my beetles. I just wish I didn't have to keep selling them to pay my bills.

Re: Which do you prefer to drive? Bug or Bus?
I have had at least one bug during the last 34 years and love driving them, but now that I have 76 Westy I think driving the bus is awesome. I love sitting over the wheels, up high, and seeing the world thru that big ole windshield.
Then again there is nothing like throwing the top back on the Thing and rolling down the road!

Re: Which do you prefer to drive? Bug or Bus?
They are just totally different experiences. I drive my bus way more than the bug, but that's really just because the bug stays at my parents house. I love driving the bus, it's slow, but I'm usually in no hurry. it's just a cool, laid back feeling driving the bus. The bug has a "funner" feel to it. It's lower, faster, and the top goes back, so it feels like a hotrod. I often think about selling the bug since I just don't drive it enough, but then I take it for a spin every few months and after driving it realize like it's too much fun to part with.

Re: Which do you prefer to drive? Bug or Bus?
My Bug in college introduced me the joy of going slow and cruising. I was born a lead-foot and had to be trained. It also taught me to enjoy interaction with the machine more. I grew up in a V8 family where everyone just stomped it in a straight line.
The Bus seemed to take the slow cruising thing to a new level. But it's been years since we've been in a Bug. I'll be curious to compare the two in a near real time situation....

I love driving the 63 bus, but, and you didn't say anything about Ghia's , but, I really love driving the Ghia with the top down
