Re: Won't idle
Sounds like intake leak. Have you sprayed carb cleaner around the gaskets?

Re: Won't idle
Did the car idle fine before? Did you blow out both pilot jets on the passenger side of the carb? Make sure the tips are clean. Possibly use a single strange of wire to clean it out along with carb cleaner and/or air.
Re: Won't idle
did you mess with the adjustment screw on the arm that goes to the butterfly?

If it just started, out of the blue, then this is your best bet.

Re: Won't idle
Ok, other than the idle, does the car rev smoothly? Does it idle high for a few seconds then die? Maybe the choke has not been coming all the way off till now? Can you do a video?

Re: Won't idle
Does it have an electric idle solenoid? Have you checked it?

Re: Won't idle
yeah, if it's just cutting off instantly when you let the gas up, I'd check that solenoid. It's the cylinder thing on the driver's side, and it should have a wire connected to it.
Turn the key to on, but don't crank it. Remove the wire from the solenoid, and then put the wire back on. Each time you remove/install wire, you should hear the solenoid click. If you don't hear it click, it's not working. Remember to cut the key off when you are done testing!!!
Pic from the internet that shows what you are looking for. This is 30 carb, but yours will look similar. You're looking for what is labeled as the idle cutoff valve.

Re: Won't idle
It does click is it normal for it to keep clicking when the key is on. Another guy told me to cut the plunger off it that could be the problem just not sure if I want to go cutting stuff off

Re: Won't idle
No, not normal for it to keep clicking. Should just click once each time key is turned on or off. I had one that went bad and cut the plunger off and drove it for months until I got a new one. If yours keeps clicking, it isn't working correctly. I'd cut the plunger and start shopping for a new one.
If you do cut the plunger off, your car may spit and sputter for a second or two after you cut the key off, but other than that, it will operate normally.
