Looking at a motor Monday

Post by KPFphotography on Sun Mar 09, 2014 7:54 am

I know I haven't met anyone yet but right now im just trying to get in the scene and most of you guys know a lot more about VWs than I do. I would really like to meet you guys but need help with my motor. Im looking at a junk yard motor tomorrow and may get it for about $200. I only need a few other parts to be ready for the motor to go in. Anyone interested in maybe coming and helping out with the motor install?

Ill buy the BEER!!  affraid

I'd love to help you out, but I have a full plate this week and next weekend. Good luck with it though, post up if you run into any troubles. Do you know any history on this junk yard motor? I'd hate for you to end up with a $200 boat anchor.

I agree, be careful with junkyard motors. Check end play and obvious signs of problems. That being said, I bought a junkyard motor for my wife's squareback and it has been a good motor for the last two years. Find out what you can about the history of the motor and move forward from there.

I could probably help this week some time. Just let me know. No beer necessary as I don't drink.
