There's a state park up on the north end and it was a really nice one. It has boat ramps, good covered picnic areas next to the beach with bathrooms, and the camp bathrooms were very clean.

They have a special access area extending beyond the north end of the park where the beach goes on for another five miles with no development.

If you ever go, keep in mind it's a long way back out if you're thinking of buying groceries during your stay. Once you enter the gate it's 4 miles to the camp sites

Sounds awesome! We camped three different times in Florida state parks this year and really really enjoyed each time. Already have a couple of trips planned for next year, but haven't camped at St. George yet. May have to try and schedule a trip there!

We've camped all over Florida and St George is one of my new favorites.

Generally speaking I like the state parks best. Specific sites are reservable on ReservAmerica and they seem to be cleaner overall. The Federal ones are the same as in other places; bathrooms will be questionable to usually bad. But, some Federal campgrounds are in awesome places like Ft Pickens near Pensacola. And for private ones I check Tripadvisor.com

Yeah, we've only done St. Andrews in PCB (did that one twice) and Fort Desoto in St. Petersburg.

Went to St. Andrews for a VW show last year, and liked the campground and beach so much we went back for a 5 day weekend a few months later.

Ya'll should come down to the BBB show at the end of April and hang out with us.  Not sure who all is going this time around, but we had a pretty big group of GaDubbers there last year.

Wanted to make it last year but my son was playing baseball and the schedule didn't work out. So we went to No Dough, which fell on a weekend we had off. That's a great show but man, Daytona is a long ride. And it rained buckets coming home.

We're thinking about skipping baseball this year so it may work out. I need to check camping options in the area at that time....
