Use v notch and check points make sure they open and close correctly. If you disturbed intake manifold or carb you might have agrivated a vacuum leak. Check spark plug wires and cap Could be so many things. Remove air cleaner and see if it will run that way. Also might be trash in carb and will need to be burped to clear passage ways

Is it a super beetle or standard?

Do you have the preheat tube, or heat risers hooked up?

With motor shut off look down top of carb and pull throlle lever and see if fuel is sqirting  nicely into carb to make sure accelerator pump is working. correctly if ok then Carefully take a large rag in hand rev engine up and then choke down the carb with your hand till engine almost dies and let off and rev of It up again do several time till it clears up should be good if after 6 trys rebuild carb and see if there are any damaged or missing pieces. Most times carbs are destroyed by po thinking they know how it fix or rebuild a carb .

What kind of tire pressures are you running? Don't need much in front. 18 psi if stock, pretty much same with aftermarket wheels. Pressure too high can make it "squirrely."

Jack up front end and check for worn tie rods and ball joints. May just be a bad steering damper.

lol!  yea i figured out it was tie rod ends on the front end shaking. they will be here tomorrow Very Happy  i would love for someone to look at it after i get them replaced, really would pay someone to show me how to do a correct tune up and time the thing. right now it wont run long enough to get it somewhere. if it did im afraid i wont make it home hehe. when it gets warmed up it does not want to start back up hehe. i didnt have my first bug long enough to learn how to do all that. i will be bringing it somewhere to get it looked at to make sure its safe and alls up to par because my wife and kids will be in it alot. with money kinda tight right now im stuck being my own mechanic, which has been fun so far. when taxes come back i plan on buying a new motor and trans to put in her so im just hoping i can make what i got run till then bom

http://forum.georgiadubs.com/t8568-bugs4christ-open-house Put a tow bar on that bug and bring it to Gray. Guaranteed you'll go home knowing more about maintaining that bug.
