help me before i loose my marbles!!! Empty help me before i loose my marbles!!!

i have just finnished a fuel infected to carb transplant on a '79 super bug convertable. it starts up wonderfull, runs great till it warms up, then dies and wont idle to save it's life. i've adjusted the valves, the choke, set the carb, fixed all vac. hoses, set the timing, re-gapped the plugs, and i'm out of ideas. i've tried two different carbs too. it still revsgood but the rpms fall slow like it has a air leak somewhere but i can't find it. all i can think is that the carb itself has an air leak somewhere in the linkedge sleeves or something. any ideas? i'm going to shoot it with a shotgun pretty soon if this continues! save the bug!!! thanks for any ideas!!!

To hunt for vacuum leaks, spray around gasket and joint areas with carb cleaner NOT STARTING FLUID. If you hit a leak, you'll hear it!

Also, back the pilot jet out about 1/2 turn (the one right behind the accelerator pump) and see if that helps. If it does, it may need cleaning, or I have had to Loctite them in place a half turn out.

Next time you start the car, let it warm up and when it starts to die and not want to idle, try loosening the fuel cap or remove it to see if the tank vent is blocked which could cause a vapor lock issue.

Also if someone closed off all the vent lines on the fuel tank that will do it too. If you pull cap and its under pressure then that's the problem. If it still has the original fuel injection tank make sure its hooked up to the outlet pipe
