Re: August 17th meeting
In addition to the front end work, the car also needs a quick tune-up/carb adjustment to see if we can get it running a little cooler before the Callaway Gardens cruise.

Re: August 17th meeting
I will try to make this one, as I have missed so many now, because of school. Hopefully school won't get in the way this time.

Yeah I did some tuning on the car recently it needs the carb cleaned and a gasket kit installed....accelerator pump is leaking and causing the stumble off idle
Re: August 17th meeting
When I pick up my spindles, and master cylinder, I'm going to pick up a rebuild kit while I'm at it. Only thing I'm worried about are those funky screws you and I saw on the accelerator pump. Eric and I haved pretty much worked out a parts list and I should have everything ready by then.
I think I am going to throw a Boston butt on the big green egg the night before and we will have that after we are done. Crystal said she would make potatoe salad and baked beans to go with it.

Depending on what time I get done with sports physicals at Georgia College I'll head on down. If you guys don't have desert, I've got connections with the SAMs Club Bakery. They make some killer cookie cakes! I'll pick one up

Re: August 17th meeting
Picked up a whole list of parts for the get together. Really looking forward to this. Hope many of y'all can make it. Here is what I got so far....
Narrowed beam from BKR
Narrowed tie rods from BKR
New drop spindles w/new kp/lp's
Set of 175/65's for the front
Caster shims
New brake master cylinder
Carb rebuild kit (complete gasket kit)
I'll just need an approximate head count a few days before so I know how much food I need to get together.
@josh if you can make it a cookie cake would be great. If not, I may can talk crystal into making some of her awesome banana pudding!!!

Re: August 17th meeting
Yes sir. Albeit they are a little stiff, they are pressed and ready. We will need to take the grease findings off the old beam and put them in the the new one. Also need to get some grease. Eric is bringing his greas gun. Just let me know what kind and how much I need to get.

Re: August 17th meeting
I've always just pumped my beam and spindles full of all-purpose lithium grease. My gun uses the 3oz cartridges. Not really sure how many it takes, but it takes a good bit.
something like this.
Have you already got the tires mounted? Some people may turn you away since a lot of places don't have the adapters to put the wide five rims on a balancer.
edit:
And now that I think about it, I'm not sure what kind of grease you'll actually need. Do you know if the beam has the original style needle bearings in it, or does have the red urethane bushings?
I'm not sure if you're supposed to grease the red urethane bushings. I've only used the needle bearings, which need grease, but think regular grease may not be good for urethane bushings. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in.
If you only need grease for the spindles, I've got plenty enough grease for those.

Re: August 17th meeting
Tires are not mounted yet. Going to see about getting them mounted tomorrow. Not sure about the the needle bushings. Tim told me that this beam needed to be greased so take that as it is. I don't think he used the red urethane bushings, but I can call him and check to be 100% sure.

Re: August 17th meeting
Here's most of the parts. Got the tires mounted today (of course they weren't able to balance them). Man what a difference from those big ass tires I had on there.

Re: August 17th meeting
Looks good!!! I talked to Tim. He used black bushings in place of the red urethane ones, so they are there! Said we just need to drill the holes in the bushings for the grease to get through, and that you could use regular grease for these.

Re: August 17th meeting
Ok folks. Week of the meet. I'm in central Mississippi until late Wednesday night. I'll be heading to the grocery store for supplies on Thursday and need to try and get a pretty good head count to figure out how large of a pig butt I need to get. Like I said earlier all are welcome that want to come. Even if its after we get done with the car. As long as you turn one wrench or support a person that turns said wrench, we will not turn away. Just need to know ahead of time.
As I've shown before, I should have all the parts we need and between Bryce, Eric and Tater, we should have all the tools we need.
Thanks again in advance for all that can make it.
Tell me who and how many....
