Would you drive your loaded Bus to Tampa with it popping out of 4th gear?

So today out of the blue my Bus starts popping out of 4th gear. It's pretty much consistent but once I put it back into 4th and I'm moving it does fine. If I let off the gas and get back on it it's fine. I work 3 days this week so I have another 60 mls or so to see if it gets worse. Just yesterday I put 155 mls on Moto and he was flawless!

Be realistic, yeah you can tell me to drive it but really what would you do?

I talked to Mr. Beddington a few minutes ago and asked him what I should do he didn't say either way just depends on how bad I wanted to go.

I've already got a rebuilt trans lined up for when we get back, highway gear and all!

You have the time off, You made the reservations, You have been anticipating this for a while, You know this is a problem and you have a fix for it, I would worry about the crap that you don't know about. We all have that thought in the back of our mind."Whats going to break next?" I would drive it.

If it stays like it is and doesn't get any worse the next couple of days, I say go for it! I promise not to go to fast, we'll keep the rpms at a nice level. If worse comes to worse, we'll get you home one way or another. I won't leave you stranded down there! But let's just think that it'll be all good and we'll have a blast.

I drove Bocephus to Reynolds (yeah, I know it's nowhere near as far as Bulli) and he was constantly popping out of forth and went through a whole bottle of gear oil. Deep down, I really feel I could driven it like that another year, but decided to do the swap only cause of the leak issue and gear oil is $$$.

Sounds like a long trip, but in reality it'll likely only be around 1000 miles. People baby dying transmissions well over 1000 miles all the time before finally getting them rebuilt.

The worry will just make the adrenaline rush that much more exciting!!! If you want, I can come over and help put a "Bulli or Bust" logo on your back window before we head out.

I would drive it. I would also keep my AAA card handy just in case. My first mile in mine was on its way to BAP the day after I got him running well enough.. It was a total crap shoot. Also my bug has popped out of 2nd since he day I got it. That was 4 years ago. My .02

Thanks Tater, nice to have a backup plan.

Drove to work today problem occurred a few times, once I made it do it. Found out that if I'm easy on the gas after going into 4th is is fine. Shifting while going up hills is another story but the highway drive should be fine and dandy once underway. Will take a bungee just in case.
