Couple of split bus wiring questions Empty Couple of split bus wiring questions

Post by fluxcap Mon Jan 30, 2012 7:35 am

I pretty much have traced all my wiring, and I believe I have all the wiring in place (may need to splice into a few wires that have been cut). I have a couple of question about the routing of the wires though. My bus is a 66.

1. Anybody got a pic of where the main harness re-enters the front section of the bus? The front section of my harness was pulled out and has just been stuck to the front of the bus with a zip tie. I see a few holes on the bottom section of the nose valance, but not sure which one its supposed to be going through.

2. If anybody currently has their front kick panels removed, I'd love a shot of your wiring. Mainly just looking to see where things are mounted (dimmer relay, 9 pin box, etc...)

3. Engine compartment. I have three holes marked below. What goes through A, B, and C? I'm thinking A is the wires for the fuel sender, oil sender, coil, and voltage regulator, B is for the Battery cable, and C is for the taillight wire harness. Is this correct?

I'll see about taking some pics when I get home. No clue if my bus is wired correctly. Everything worked when I fired it up the first time so I assume every thing is OG. Since mine is a 67, it's going to be close.

Thanks Glenn! I'd appreciate it. Hope to start working on the wiring in the next week or so, so I'm getting closer to getting in running!

Thanks Digger! That does help. I'm pretty sure I've got the engine compartment routing figured out now. Anymore of the wiring behind the nose would be very helpful! Mainly looking for where the main harness comes into the cab.

Couple of split bus wiring questions Empty Re: Couple of split bus wiring questions

Ok, picture request part II. Spent some time the last few days getting wiring settled in. Got it all done except for the dome light (should be easy) and the wipers (waiting on some grommets).

Since I'm going 12v, I'm not using the 9-pin box, but am instead using a bay window flasher knob to control the hazards, turn signals, and brake lights. Got it all wired up and it works great, but man I have a rats nest of wiring to clean up.

Here's the pics I'm looking for -
I don't have my parcel tray installed yet, so I'd like a picture of the areas where wires pass over or under the parcel tray
1a) How does the main turn signal harness get routed once it passes through the speedo pod. Does it pass through the hole in the steering column bracket and then under the parcel tray?
1b) The brown wire on the t/s harness connects to the windshield wiper switch for ground. How is this wire usually routed?

2) The wires for the headlight switch, speedo, etc.... I'm assuming these wires are suspended under the dash and then pass down in front of the parcel tray (between the tray and nose of bus), and then to the fuse block area???

Any pics would be greatly appreciated. Or if anybody will have their bus at the Dallas show, I could just look in person and snap a few pics of my own.

Thanks!!!

Yeah man, that helps a lot! So it looks like the turn signal harness goes over the parcel tray and not under it. I'll need to re-route that one.

Thanks man!
