help she wont idle for crap... Empty help she wont idle for crap...

ok she's a 65 type 1 with a stock 1200 and a 28 pict carb. The car was running well when a valve was noisy. I pulled the covers and checked them all and adjusted most. I snugged them at .005 and the .004 would drag through with ease and the .006 would come through but pretty tough. So the car will run down the road with crappy power but when you come to a stop she stalls. If you pat the gas just as she starts to head to hell and she perks back up. Could i have the valves to tight or maybe a 6 week old fuel filter is starting to clog . The other deal is this ancient carb finally done??. It did run pretty good with the noisy valve but ironically it was at night when i started to hear it and the damn belt was slipping so the car was bogging at idle while the headlights were on. I replaced the belt and fixed the headlight drainage/slipping belt issue then i adjusted the valves that led us to where we are at now. Can someone help me out...

Had a similar problem cleaned the carb and adjusted my timing, seemed to do the trick haven't had the problem since. But I probably would start with clearing that carb out

it could just be a vac leak spray brake cleaner around your carb an intake an intake boots an intake to head an see if it will change

what about carb icing....when was the car running good? When did it start running bad? Run the car around the block and park it and run back and look at the carb and the intake any ice or condensation? Are the heat risers getting hot? Do you have the pre heat hooked up?

It wouldn't hurt to pull the idle jet on the right side of the carb and blow it out good

Look for pitting and burn spots and make sure the gap is correct

as long as you did the adjustment right then I would say they were good
