Re: Gertrude the 1960 ragtop
i took the doors off so i could work on them easier and they were even bolted to the car lol
i need to find the screws for them
i found out my pass side window regulator and outside door handle are toast so now i need to decide if i want to buy new correct door handles with keys or if i want to buy new ice picks and weld up the other small hole

IMO keep it with original/period correct handles (but of course that's just how I feel...it's your ride:-)

Re: Gertrude the 1960 ragtop
decided to keep the og style handles
and im going to keep it on the bj/swingaxle pan since it has good pan halfs on it.
so now my next question is should i just keep all drum brakes or should i get a 4 lug drop spindle disk brake kit and just get adapters cause thats cheeper.
the bj dropped disk brake 5 lug kit is about 100 bucks more
discuss! lol

My opinion would be spend the extra ben for the wide 5 discs. You'll be a lot happier in the long run.

The 4 lug discs plus the adapters are going to make it wider, I'd go 5 lug discs

Re: Gertrude the 1960 ragtop
Any auto parts store sells almost the exact same lighter outlet as the origional. the little cheap one that has the chrome L bracket. Of course the aftermarket one isn't as heavy or well constructed, but it workes better then my old shorted out one, lol. just unscrew the outside of the lighter, remove the bracket, and put it thru the hole. I'm running a 200W heater and GPS from it at the same time, so they can take a good bit of current.
