Are you sure the guy who put the tire on is not in there and just trying to get out?PeeWeeMan91 wrote:

Order a ton of parts today. Ordered my dual carbs from CarCaft in Cali.
Ordered my Alternator kit all my ignition parts and complete clutch kit from Steve at ProFlow today. I am hoping to get this engine in this coming weekend. Its been a long time coming. I will be working all day Saturday on it. SOOOOOOO if anybody wants to hang out shoot the sh-t and VW it up with a cold drink or two let me know. Ill supply the food and drinks. I still have a good bit of things to knock out but would love to have some help.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
well got the engine, transaxle and tank out.
Pulled it mainly because of trans leaking like crazy (nosecone bushing) but also was having a fuel issue. - Going to try and clear out the lines and check the tank screen as well.
Not sure at this point what else im going to do.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
replaced all of the rubber fuel lines on O.B., adjusted the clutch, wired up the headlights, wired it up for the alternator, installed the front shocks, and got a tag for it.....I still have to get some bolts for the rear shocks and figure out what to run for bulb holders for my front turn signals but it is a driver now!
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Went to ProFlow tonight. Spent a chunk of change and came home and kept assembling the engine for Sadie. I spare no expense.
Here are a few pics of the engine in progress
I'm so ready.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Looks like it is coming along nicely Eric!
Today I bought some bolts and inserts for the rears shocks and installed them. I also had to refit the distributor as it wasnt seated all the way and the drive kept coming out killing the car....all is well now I hope. Also bought some bulb housings for the front blinkers just need to drill the buckets and run the wires...

I always wondered why they put the fitting on those oil filler necks pointing down. i thought it was random or something, but mine's the same way. sucks when adding oil, cuz oil fills up the hose going up, and then doesn't vent so the oil backs up, and comes out sometimes (especially when you squeeze the bottle ). i redrilled and re-tapped mine for a 3/8 NPT, and removed the gasket, and just smeared some red RTV on the threads, and sealing surface. no leaks and the (larger) fitting points up.
not really a problem for most people, just something i felt like i had to fix, cuz stuff like that annoys the crap out of me, OCD i guess

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
If you take a pair of vice grips and squeeze the tube oil fill is no trouble.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I taught the Automotive Maintenance merit badge to four of the scouts in our Troop. What better time to explain to them how all the parts of a car works than when I have the body off and all of the mechanicals visible. Thanks Pete, for coming by and helping out.

Michael, those scouts were very interested in all the parts that make up a car, and how they work together. They're lucky to have you as a Scout Leader! I'll bet most of their friends can't change a tire or point out the carburetor on a car.
