muffler talk
anyone ever run an exhaust like this one
im looking for a new exhaust that will look somewhat stock and was thinking about this with just some straight tips coming out instead of the mufflers in the pic
anyone got any input? pics of it on a car?
thanks

Re: muffler talk
I've never run that exhaust, but the mufflers are the the angled cone shaped things. It'd be pretty loud if you eliminated those and ran straight pipes, kinda like 2 stingers, and girls would still burn themselves on your exhaust

Re: muffler talk
I ran a stock muffler on my '67 with a 1641, but ran the unbaffled tips. It sounds louder than stock, but still provides the back pressure that you need. Plus, you can run heat in the winter.

Re: muffler talk
I recommend the trimil exhaust...
uses stock exit holes
slightly bigger tips
sounds awesome
and they are fairly cheap!
we may still have one at work, if not we can order ya one.
definitely gunna be my next exhaust!

Re: muffler talk
yeah i know what mufflers are
i know it would be loud, i have a stinger now the problem is not the loud hot part its the aesthetics of a stinger i just dont like a big cone hanging out the back of my car. i like the loud part!
and i've looked into the trimil i just don't like the look of it
and i do like the one bob and ed have but i've never seen the one i posted in person and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on that one

Re: muffler talk
I personally don't like the way that one you have pictured looks. If it sounds like those old zoom tubes, they don't sound good either.

Re: muffler talk
My beetle still had the VW '69 muffler on it, when It blew a pea shooter tube off, I just welded all the inlet joints and cut the other peashooter off, then I welded on 2 45* angled 1.5" diam. pipes. Welded them to the body of the muffler and the hangers. Look somewhat stock, but are louder, and have just the amount flow to make the 1300 come alive. With the non US spec trannie, I shift into 4th at 60-65 mph. Zoom Zoom Zoom...

Re: muffler talk
i used them when i lived in PA and this small shop had em in stock and we all used them-- they were loud--i would set car alarms off - not that i was trying too-lol -you could not have a stinger pipe- had to go out a side-- i would get another if i found one!! i think you could do teh same thing with a cherry bomb -- have a flange welded on - would look good- i am sure its been done--
